This second edition of The Seven Periods of English Architecture
was originally published in 1851. Chapters include; Introduction,
Classification, Compartments, Saxon period, Norman period,
Transitional period, Lancet period, Geometrical period, Curvilinear
period and Rectilinear period. Illustrated with twenty steel
engravings and woodcuts this is a fascinating novel of the period
and still an interesting read today. Many of the earliest books,
