The book "Rhyme on the Palette" is the second collaborative project between the artist Izya Shlosberg and the poet Elena Sosnina. The title of the book speaks for itself. It is hard to say what is doing the illustrating here, the poem or the painting, or vice versa. They are connected to one another on many levels: emotional, cerebral, spiritual...

The expression "The Last Cicada" is one of dual interpretation. Simply, it could represent the very last insect, which at the end of the summer has taken residence in a warm corner of your home. Metaphorically speaking, it could be understood to mean the actual last of all cicadas, a kind of "Last of the Mohicans" and sole survivor of its type. Poets often, if not always, see themselves like spectators and outsiders rather than socializers. They don't easily merge with society. "The Last cicada" is no exception and is the idea with which this writer identifies with. Sing out loud until you gone Life is too short In this book the author Elena Sosnina has collected her thoughts and impressions from the year 2011. She warns the reader in the book's foreword, that this is not a personal blog. It is rather a volume of spontaneous insights, inspired through her experiences with various books, artworks, and events this past year. She has loosely divided her book into eight chapters, each of them featuring a certain poetic meter, from iamb to vers libre... All the aspects of the Universe exist in every moment of life, and all the poems written in one year at a poet's desk most certainly can represent the entire life of a living creature.

When a poet finds her old notebooks, filled with verses which she authored 20 years ago, it can lead to feelings of self-mockery since what she once wrote seems childish and naive to her now. On the other hand, the lyricism of youth and expressions of romance, bitterness, and disenchantment of the young at heart are dearly missed by the more mature, or shall we say aged, writer. The book "Love Meter" introduces us to Elena Sosnina's "rosy" period, where the classic style of an even and harmonious metering system is evident. She combined those early love poems with the urbanistic ones from later years, for contrast. It's quiet a shock to see these roses sprouted their thorns - meters become irregular, rhymes appear sparser, and the content becomes more prose-like. But as author mentions in the foreword, the one thing which stays constant throughout the whole book - love lives in between the lines.

This book was created as a combined effort between Russian poet Elena Sosnina and artist Izya Shlosberg. It's intent was to juxtapose their individual paintings and poems in a way as to summons a multitude of senses and emotions.

Elena Sosnina's poetry is often written in the tone of a confessional. In the book "The Music Of Thin Spheres" the author stayed true to herself, but has made a giant leap from the personal to the eternal.
