High Ground is a fictional account of the legal, political, and
moral conflict that would eventually turn American against
American. Garrett Fitzwilliam sacrificed the woman he loved to
preserve the Union, but how does he defend the United States of
America when America's survival depends upon an army sabotaged by
its own incompetence? Or was America lost when the president, who
swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution,
imprisoned his political foes?

Issues of class, gender and identity have long been of interest in
cultural studies. The concept of gender is considered a cultural
difference, characteristically placed in opposition to the concept
of sex, a biological difference. To understand gender it needs to
be considered in a social context, as it is fundamental to the
process of social classification. Masculinity and femininity are
not necessarily innate, but are constructed culturally, and are
often a variable performance. Gender has frequently been referred
to as a learned act or behaviour and the family is considered by
psychoanalytical theory to be a significant place for gender roles
to be initiated. Exploring the boundaries of gender identity has
played a long standing role in western culture across the class
divide. This text will discuss how gender and identity were
manifested in 18th Century society, contextualised through
contemporary culture.

"By Here" is a story in pictures that shows the recent change to
our landscape across the country due to the closure of small
railroad lines. It might seem a sad thing, the end of an era, but
the story reveals something different. The tracks have been
reclaimed by nature and now provide safe and peasant places for
people to hike. It shows all times of the day and seasons of the
year, knitted together by the old train's tracks.
New Third Edition Now Available! Written by authors with
backgrounds in GIScience and computer technology, Exploring
Geospatial Technology presents the basic tenets that undergird the
geospatial technologies of cartography, GIS, and remote sensing
using an historical perspective as the link that ties the
technologies both to each other and to GIScience. Exploring
Geospatial Technology is written in a student-friendly language to
those outside the discipline of geography. To aid comprehension,
hands-on exercises are included in each chapter. These exercises
are designed to explore the concepts presented and take advantage
of a variety of software packages, including ESRI's ArcGIS and
Purdue University's Multispec.
