Similarly, the usefulness of the "public/private paradigm" familiar to gender historians is further challenged.

The image of woman is examined in this book. Aspects covered include sexism in French writing, and the media, image and authenticity in the work of Sylvia Plath. Maxie Wander's Guten Morgen, du Schoene and its reception in the GDR is also examined.
Parenting any preschooler can be challenging, but when hyperactivity and impulsivity are extreme, parenting requires extraordinary effort and skill. Parents need tools for helping their children behave in ways that are adaptive and socially appropriate and that will prevent their children from developing additional difficulties. Children who are hyperactive are at risk for developing emotional or behavioral disorders, and research suggests that helping parents to provide firm and consistent limits in a nurturing environment can significantly reduce hyperactivity and associated difficulties. Parenting Hyperactive Preschoolers provides a 14-week parent training and emotion socialization program that aims to help preschoolers who have symptoms of ADHD by teaching parents new ways of interacting with their children. This clinician's manual outlines each session and includes homework forms and handouts for parents and children. The treatment includes behavior management strategies that have been demonstrated to be effective for children with behavior problems and tailors these strategies to the specific needs of hyperactive preschoolers. Because children with ADHD have substantial difficulties with emotion regulation, this as an important component of the treatment protocol. The program is designed to be conducted in a group setting in 90 minute sessions, which also allows parents to receive support and input from each other, but can be easily adapted to sessions with individual parents.
Some people never "grow out of faerie tales." For some, they're a part of everyday life and there's no escaping the magic and mystery that lurk around every corner. Unfortunately, sometimes that magic is downright irritating. "Damn Faeries" is a collection of faerie tales for those that never quite grew out of them. There's no telling what surprises and horrors lie around every nook and cranny of this book. The tales within are designed to amuse and delight, inspire and entertain, and remind us that magic is only ever a pixie's wing away.
A man buys a house that comes with a whole lot more "property" than he ever could have expected... A demon's presence rocks a small town to the very bones, terrifying the community and drawing them to seek help from a group that people don't believe exists... A mysterious woman with terrifying nightmares draws a detective into a case that will change his life forever... These stories and more lurk in the pages of this fantastic new book. Each tale of supernatural suspense features a new voice in the world of writing and is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. "When Nightmares Fall" is both entertaining and a good diversion for anyone looking to step sideways into the world of the surreal and the terrifying.
Was it possible to have a private life under the Nazi dictatorship? It has often been assumed that private life and the notion of privacy had no place under Nazi rule. Meanwhile, in recent years historians of Nazism have been emphasising the degree to which Germans enthusiastically embraced notions of community. This volume sheds fresh light on these issues by focusing on the different ways in which non-Jewish Germans sought to uphold their privacy. It highlights the degree to which the regime permitted or even fostered such aspirations, and it offers some surprising conclusions about how private roles and private self-expression could be served by, and in turn serve, an alignment with the community. Furthermore, contributions on occupied Poland offer insights into the efforts by 'ethnic Germans' to defend their aspirations to privacy and by Jews to salvage the remnants of private life in the ghetto.

This collection of essays by scholars from England, Germany, and
the United States brings together important and innovative work on
gender relations in German history from the early modern period to
the 1950s. Offering fresh insights and challenging interpretations,
the essays demonstrate how the norms of political, social, and
sexual behavior for both sexes are the objects of regulation and
control, and are matters of conflict, debate, and negotiation. A
substantial introduction reviews the historiography relating the
major themes of the collection.
