A close friend of Elizabeth (Beth) Williams-Medhus wrote this about
"The Not So Merry Widow" "A poignant and amazing story of a woman's
journey through the difficult transition from devoted wife to
widow." That is indeed an apt description, but it is much more than
a widow's tale of loss. First and foremost, it is the love story of
two people with "past lives"-marriages, children, and yes,
"baggage" - yet Ed and Beth were willing to take a chance on
finding happiness with each other. They blended their families and
were well on their way to "happily ever after" when Fate dealt them
the cruelest blow. After Ed died, while Beth may have stumbled when
forced to carry the burden of her grief-not only for herself, but
also for her children and grandchildren as they dealt with theirs,
she didn't give up. She struggled with each difficult day, learning
about herself, healing from the wounds of her devastating loss,
until she came to realize that she was finally able to open her
heart and accept the changes that new love brought to her life.
Widows, widowers, women, and men who have made this journey of love
and loss will love this book.
