During the past few decades, the gradual merger of Discrete Geometry and the newer discipline of Computational Geometry has provided enormous impetus to mathematicians and computer scientists interested in geometric problems. This 2005 volume, which contains 32 papers on a broad range of topics of interest in the field, is an outgrowth of that synergism. It includes surveys and research articles exploring geometric arrangements, polytopes, packing, covering, discrete convexity, geometric algorithms and their complexity, and the combinatorial complexity of geometric objects, particularly in low dimension. There are points of contact with many applied areas such as mathematical programming, visibility problems, kinetic data structures, and biochemistry, as well as with algebraic topology, geometric probability, real algebraic geometry, and combinatorics.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th Annual European Symposium on Algorithms, ESA 2007, held in Eilat, Israel, in October 2007 in the context of the combined conference ALGO 2007.

The 63 revised full papers presented together with abstracts of three invited lectures address all current subjects in algorithmics reaching from design and analysis issues of algorithms over to real-world applications and engineering of algorithms in various fields.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 27th International Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming, ICALP 2000, held in Geneva, Switzerland in July 2000. The 69 revised full papers presented together with nine invited contributions were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 196 extended abstracts submitted for the two tracks on algorithms, automata, complexity, and games and on logic, semantics, and programming theory. All in all, the volume presents an unique snapshot of the state-of-the-art in theoretical computer science.
