Desde el nacimiento de la quimica organica, alla por 1828 cuando Wohler anuncio la sintesis de la urea, los quimicos organicos han sido alarifes del mundo molecular. Esta fascinacion por disenar y construir nuevas estructuras ha llevado a la preparacion de moleculas de formas inusitadas y aplicaciones sin fin. Dentro de las estructuras que han despertado mayor interes en los ultimos anos se encuentran los dendrimeros. Ello es debido tanto a su distribucion espacial como a sus propiedades y aplicaciones potenciales. El trabajo que aqui se presenta se enmarca en dos campos de investigacion: el desarrollo de nuevos materiales con estructura dendrimerica y la evaluacion de sus propiedades opticas. A lo largo de la tesis se describe la preparacion, caracterizacion, y estudios espectroscopicos preliminares de tres familias de dendrimeros conjugados: dendrimeros basados en poli (fenilenvinilenos), dendrimeros cuya arquitectura esta basada en hibridos de poli (fenilenvinilenos) / poli(fenilenetinilenos) y dendrimeros alificos de PAMAM que incorporan cromoforos de oligo(fenilenvinilenos) de manera supramolecular."
