Bestselling novelists are being murdered and the authors' first
edition books are selling at astronomical prices on online auction
sights, garnering a fortune for some lucky individuals. Palm
Springs rare book dealer Xanthe Anthony watches the events with
interest until he becomes the prime suspect. When Anthony is jailed
on suspicion of murder, he asks an Internet hacker to help track
down the real murderer. But as the body count continues to rise,
Anthony has to act fast if he's to escape the net of justice slowly
closing around him. Set in 1995, when the internet was new and the
book world was only beginning to transform into the online
mega-industry it is today, this novel captures a time of techno
cowboys and literary intrigue like no other. Biblio-Mystery: a
traditional murder mystery with a book or author as a key component
to it's core dilemma.

WHEN I WAS young, my mother told me a ghost story to scare me home
before dark. It was about a witch-shadow in Tahquitz canyon that
would swoop down on bad children, taking them away from their
parents, never to be seen again. I thought it just a campfire tale
used by adults to scare kids - at least, I thought so until Papa
passed away. Papa (pronounced Powpow), my great-grandfather, died
in 1992. In his Last Will and Testament he left me a tattered old
leather saddlebag containing four items: an old Rochester camera,
some undeveloped slide plates, a relic of a flintlock pistol which
still functions, and his Constables log. In the log, he revealed a
secret history of my family kept from me my whole life. He was the
second constable in the Village of Palm Springs. The following
story was the greatest case he ever cracked.
I grew up in a time that Blacks, Hispanics, Women and Gays were
being given rights and opportunities through affirmative action
that were denied white people. This was done to try and balance the
injustices of the past and create a sort of social equality. But in
my case, these same minorities went further and mistreated me in
numerous ways. Black kids picking on the short white kid in school,
college Deans denying services to the Caucasian because his parents
were perceived well off; and later in life these experiences and
the desire to parent children who looked as much like me as
possible affected my choices while adopting. These are the tales of
a short white boy from Southern California and how he saw the world
change from his fathers generation witness adult black men step
into the muddy street before they would share a sidewalk with a
white child into a land where gay men can force themselves onto
other men without fear of reprisal.

One of Lawrence Welk's most beloved entertainers, an Emmy Award
winner and a Vegas headliner, Roberta Linn captured the hearts of
fans nationwide. Her inspiring story unfolds in the pages of
"Champagne Lady."
Born in a small Iowa town to a farmer's daughter and a minor
league baseball player, Roberta discovered her talent for
performing at a young age. She played in film productions and
worked with big name stars like Shirley Temple, Cary Grant, and
Clark Gable. At the age of thirteen, she fabricated her true age
and enlisted in the Women's Army Corps, entertaining the troops of
World War II.
From 1950 to 1955, Roberta became Lawrence Welk's first
television "Champagne Lady," and she was displayed on magazine
covers around the country. But the harshness of celebrity life
finally took it's toll, and Roberta's ill health led to a
medicine-induced coma in 1958. Her amazing recovery reinforced her
faith, and she continued to find success in her career. Both moving
and uplifting, "Champagne Lady," showcases the triumph of one of
the most popular entertainers of Hollywood's golden Age.
