Music video director Samuel Bayer helms this remake of Wes Craven's 1980s slasher horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers - Nancy (Rooney Mara), Quentin (Kyle Gallner), Jesse (Thomas Dekker) and Alan (Clancy Brown) - all attended the same nursery school when they were toddlers. Several of them were molested by the nursery's janitor, Fred Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), who was subsequently burned to death in a fire by their enraged parents. Now the horribly disfigured, razor-fingered Freddie is out to wreak his revenge upon the teenagers by slicing them up in their dreams. As long as they are able to awake, they can protect one another - but as soon as they succumb to sleep, there can be no escape.

After mysterious alien spacecraft land on Earth, American linguistics professor Dr Louise Banks (Adams) finds herself working with the army to decode the aliens' communications. Under the command of Colonel Weber (Whitaker), Louise and military scientist Ian Donnelly (Renner) try to learn more about the aliens' language so they can communicate with them and discover why they have come to Earth, before someone else across the globe decides to attack first.

But with the CIA and global leaders monitoring their interactions, will they be able to make their breakthrough without any unwanted interference?

David F. Sandberg directs this horror, based on his own short, starring Teresa Palmer, Gabriel Bateman and Maria Bello. After her husband is killed in a mysterious accident at work, Sophie (Bello) becomes mentally unstable and disturbed and spends much of her time communicating with an imaginary friend that lurks in the darkness. When her behaviour begins to affect her son Martin (Bateman), his older sister Rebecca (Palmer), who remembers their awful home life all too well, offers to shelter him in her apartment to keep him out of harm's way. With the reluctant help of her boyfriend Bret (Alexander DiPersia), Rebecca tries to uncover the mystery behind the entity her mother calls Diana as she researches her mother's past in a mental institution. But it seems Diana has now made Rebecca a target of her attacks when the lights go out...
