Pinturicchio war ein italienischer Maler der Fruhrenaissance. Er
lebte von etwa 1454 bis 1513. Seine Werke waren teils eng an die
seines Lehrer Perugino angelehnt, dem er als Gehilfe bei den
Fresken der Sixtinischen Kapelle in Rom zur Seite stand.
Pinturicchio gilt als einer der Hauptvertreter der Umbrischen
Schule. Ernst Steinmann, erster Direktor der 1913 in Rom
gegrundeten Bibliotheca Hertziana," beschreibt in diesem
