This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post conference proceedings of the 4th edition of the Semantic Web Evaluation Challenge, SemWebEval 2017, co-located with the 14th European Semantic Web conference, held in Portoroz, Slovenia, in May/June 2017. This book includes the descriptions of all methods and tools that competed at SemWebEval 2017, together with a detailed description of the tasks, evaluation procedures and datasets. The 11 revised full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions. The contributions are grouped in the areas: the mighty storage challenge; open knowledge extraction challenge; question answering over linked data challenge; semantic sentiment analysis.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the Satellite Events of the 11th International Conference on the Semantic Web, ESWC 2014, held in Anissaras, Crete, Greece, in May 2014. The volume contains 20 poster and 43 demonstration papers, selected from 113 submissions, as well as 12 best workshop papers selected from 60 papers presented at the workshop at ESWC 2014. Best two papers from AI Mashup Challenge are also included. The papers cover various aspects of the Semantic Web.
This book provides a comprehensive and accessible introduction to knowledge graphs, which have recently garnered notable attention from both industry and academia. Knowledge graphs are founded on the principle of applying a graph-based abstraction to data, and are now broadly deployed in scenarios that require integrating and extracting value from multiple, diverse sources of data at large scale. The book defines knowledge graphs and provides a high-level overview of how they are used. It presents and contrasts popular graph models that are commonly used to represent data as graphs, and the languages by which they can be queried before describing how the resulting data graph can be enhanced with notions of schema, identity, and context. The book discusses how ontologies and rules can be used to encode knowledge as well as how inductive techniques-based on statistics, graph analytics, machine learning, etc.-can be used to encode and extract knowledge. It covers techniques for the creation, enrichment, assessment, and refinement of knowledge graphs and surveys recent open and enterprise knowledge graphs and the industries or applications within which they have been most widely adopted. The book closes by discussing the current limitations and future directions along which knowledge graphs are likely to evolve. This book is aimed at students, researchers, and practitioners who wish to learn more about knowledge graphs and how they facilitate extracting value from diverse data at large scale. To make the book accessible for newcomers, running examples and graphical notation are used throughout. Formal definitions and extensive references are also provided for those who opt to delve more deeply into specific topics.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 20th International Semantic Web Conference, ISWC 2021, which took place in October 2021. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The papers included in this volume deal with the latest advances in fundamental research, innovative technology, and applications of the Semantic Web, linked data, knowledge graphs, and knowledge processing on the Web. Papers are organized in a research track, resources and in-use track. The research track details theoretical, analytical and empirical aspects of the Semantic Web and its intersection with other disciplines. The resources track promotes the sharing of resources which support, enable or utilize semantic web research, including datasets, ontologies, software, and benchmarks. And finally, the in-use-track is dedicated to novel and significant research contributions addressing theoretical, analytical and empirical aspects of the Semantic Web and its intersection with other disciplines.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 20th InternationalConference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management, EKAW 2016,held in Bologna, Italy, in November 2016. The 51 full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 171 submissions. The papers cover all aspects of eliciting, acquiring, modeling, and managing knowledge, the construction of knowledge-intensive systems and services for the Semantic Web, knowledge management, e-business, natural language processing,intelligent information integration, personal digital assistance systems, and a variety of other related topics. A special focus was on "evolving knowledge", i.e., the impact of space and time on knowledge representation, concerning all aspects of the management and acquisition of knowledge representation of evolving, contextual, and local models.
The 47 revised full papers presented together with three invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 204 submissions. This program was completed by a demonstration and poster session, in which researchers had the chance to present their latest results and advances in the form of live demos. In addition, the PhD Symposium program included 10 contributions, selected out of 21 submissions. The core tracks of the research conference were complemented with new tracks focusing on linked data; machine learning; mobile web, sensors and semantic streams; natural language processing and information retrieval; reasoning; semantic data management, big data, and scalability; services, APIs, processes and cloud computing; smart cities, urban and geospatial data; trust and privacy; and vocabularies, schemas, and ontologies.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of Satellite Events held at the 19th International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management, EKAW 2014 in November 2014. EKAW 2014 hosted three satellite workshops: VISUAL 2014, International Workshop on Visualizations and User Interfaces for Knowledge Engineering and Linked Data Analytics, EKM1, the First International Workshop on Educational Knowledge Management and ARCOE-Logic 2014, the 6th International Workshop on Acquisition, Representation and Reasoning about Context with Logic. This volume also contains the accepted contributions for the EKAW 2014 tutorials, demo and poster sessions.
