After some idle chat in which it transpires that each man has someone in their lives they would like to dispose of, Bruno proposes that he kills Guy's wife, in return for Guy murdering Bruno's father. Guy is appalled, but when his wife is murdered he realises that Bruno is intent on carrying out the 'deal', whether Guy wants to or not. In 'North By Northwest' (1959) advertising executive Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant) is lunching in a restaurant with his mother when he mistakenly answers a page for one George Kaplan. He soon finds himself on the run across the country, being pursued by enemies of the government who are convinced that he is a secret agent. He finds a friend in Eve Kendall (Eve Marie Saint), who helps conceal him during a perilous train journey, but soon discovers she is not all that she seems...

Elia Kazan directs this 1950s crime drama starring Marlon Brando. Ex-boxer Terry Malloy (Brando) becomes involved in corrupt dockside politics through his lawyer brother Charley (Rod Steiger), who works for gangster union boss Johnny Friendly (Lee J. Cobb). When Terry witnesses the murder of a union worker by Johnny's thugs, his conscience begins to trouble him. He meets the murder victim's sister (Eva Marie Saint), and learns from Father Barry (Karl Malden) that the dead man was about to expose Johnny's illegal activities. Father Barry then tries to convince Terry to provide the evidence required to put Johnny behind bars. The film won eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Director and Actor.

Box set comprising four classic Cary Grant films as well as a documentary about his life and work made in 2004, 'Cary Grant: A Class Apart'. 'Night and Day' (1946) is a fictionalized biography of Cole Porter, made while the composer was still alive, starring Grant in the title role. The film begins in the 1910s when Porter is at Yale University, then follows him through the First World War, in which he works as an ambulance driver in France and marries a nurse from an aristocratic family (Alexis Smith). Director Michael Curtiz then focuses on Porter's glittering career through the 1940s, and the film contains performances of many of his most famous songs. It is now generally conceded that many of the facts on which the film is based are wildly inaccurate: Porter was in fact gay and married a divorcee friend for convenience, and his much-feted military experiences were a hoax. 'Destination Tokyo' (1943) is a suspenseful wartime drama about a US submarine, USS Copperfin, sent into Tokyo harbour under secret orders in the early days of the Second World War. Cary Grant plays the submarine's commander, whose mission is to get the submarine and its crew into the harbour undetected and send a landing party ashore in order to obtain vital information for the planned Doolittle air raid on Tokyo. To complicate matters, his evil sibling Jonathan (Raymond Massey) has just escaped from jail, and arrives at the family home with murderous intentions of his own.

George C Scott reprises the role he originally played in 'Patton' (1970) as the charismatic World War II hero, in this sequel which traces the general's last six months, from the war's end to the freak accident which robbed him of his life.

Superman - The Movie (1978)
Sent by his parents from the planet Krypton just before its destruction, Superman (Christopher Reeve) fights on his adopted planet Earth for truth and justice. With special powers such as flight, super-strength, and X-ray vision, he must thwart the villainous Lex Luthor all while maintaining his alter ego Clark Kent, a bumbling reporter at The Daily Planet.

Superman 2 (1980)
Superman (Christopher Reeve) foils the plot of terrorists by hurtling their nuclear device into outer space, but the bomb's shock waves free the Kryptonian villain General Zod (Terence Stamp) and his henchmen Ursa (Sarah Douglas) and Non (Jack O'Halloran) from their imprisonment. Traveling to Earth, they threaten the planet with destruction at the same time that Superman decides to renounce his superpowers in order to live a normal life as Clark Kent with his new love, Lois Lane (Margot Kidder).

Superman 3 (1983)
Computer programmer Gus Gorman (Richard Pryor) is hired by financial tycoon Ross Webster (Robert Vaughn) to seize control of a weather satellite and annihilate Colombia's coffee crop. When Superman (Christopher Reeve) manages to thwart the plan, Webster commands Gorman to use the satellite to locate kryptonite, the Man of Steel's mortal weakness. But a missing unknown element in the kryptonite -- replaced by Gorman with tar -- causes an unintended side effect when presented to Superman.

Superman 4: The Quest for Peace (1987)
Seeing the United States and the Soviet Union engaged in a nuclear arms race that could lead to Earth's destruction, Superman (Christopher Reeve) decides that he must take action. He collects all the nuclear warheads from the world and throws them into space. Meanwhile, Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman), has broken out of prison with a new scheme. He clones Superman with radioactive material to create Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow), a being just as powerful as the man of steel.

Superman Returns (2006)
Adventure sequel set after the events of 'Superman II'. After eliminating General Zod and the other Kryptonian arch-villains, Ursa and Non, Superman (Brandon Routh) leaves Earth to search for his former home planet, Krypton. When he arrives he finds nothing but remnants and returns to Earth. Upon his return, he finds a Metropolis that doesn't need him anymore. Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) is engaged to a relative of his boss (James Marsden), and to make matters worse, his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) has contrived a plot to build a continent using the crystals of Krypton that will wipe out most of North America. Superman must again race against time to stop the psychopathic Luthor before it's too late.
