Sisterhood of the Skull & Roses is a compelling tale of murder and intrigue. The plot takes readers on a self assessing journey through one man's tortured existence. After reading it one can't help but question his own conscience. Logan Carter is a product of his upbringing. Made to feel useless by a set of twisted parents suffering from role reversal syndrome, he grows up a terribly confused young man. Logan knows he is different, by virtue of how he is treated. That said, he sets out to prove his worthlessness by behaving in ways that confirm it. In a perverse convolution of reality, Logan uses his negative feelings about himself to make life changing modifications. He turns the tables on those who've put him in his place. In essence he procures his own worthiness, by ridding the world of those he views as unsuitable. His mission, it could be argued, has merit...but it's not his mission. Nobody named him God. Logan's weaknesses mirror most peoples weaknesses. It's not for any one individual to determine what is right or what is wrong for another person. Logan wanted to improve the world by forcing his beliefs on others. Do we all not do the same? The answer to our conflicts lies not in our conformity, but by our acceptance, despite our differences. Logan learned that lesson to late. Yes, he was an extremist, but in many ways Logan is a reflection of us all. Do we all not find fault in others as a way of justifying our own behavior. Are we all not products of our upbringing? Do we not sit in judgement of others, yet fail to see our own prejudices. When it comes to an individual's personal preferences we tend to see things as either black or white, when in reality there are at fifty shades of grey...
Richard and Veronica Stevens accept an early retirement offer from their employer so they can follow their dream of retiring in Florida. Wanting to give back to society, Veronica decides to volunteer at a domestic abuse shelter. There she meets Teracita, a beautiful young au pair who was brought to the shelter brutally beaten. Veronica connects with Teracita and, despite her husband's advice, gets personally involved. That decision costs Veronica her life. When her battered body is found in a sleazy beach side motel room her husband is charged with the crime. Detective Dan Brooks, Chief Homicide Investigator for the Daytona Beach Police Department, is days away from closing the book on a thirty year career in law enforcement. When the call comes in that a body has been found the detective rushes to the scene. What he finds changes his retirement plans indefinitely. Brooks puts his life on hold till the case can be solved. Readers wind their way through a plethora of seedy scenarios filled with disreputable characters. They are introduced to an underworld over populated by sexual deviants, drug dealers, black marketeers, and corrupt cops. The story takes them from the barrios of Chihuahua to the glitz and glamour of Miami Beach. From the snow covered rural roads of upstate New York to the tough Irish neighborhoods of Kansas City. The narrative culminates on a cruise ship in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way, justice is served...
