This work contains Alexandria Quaker records, 1802-1827 (minutes, certificates of removal, marriages, births, deaths); extracts from the Vestry Book of Christ Church Fairfax, 1765-1806 with burial plot owners in 1812; burial permits, 1787-1795 (support payments, apprenticeship of orphans, pew owners); extracts from Truro Parish Vestry Book, 1732-1765 with references to orphans and burials (from which you can estimate the year of death), the needy for whom payments were made, and other payments; and the register of baptisms, marriages and funerals during the ministry of Rev. James Muir, 1802-1815 at Presbyterian Church of Alexandria.

There are a remarkable number of relationships revealed in these transactions. Included in the compilations are landmarks and all references to persons and relationships.

This volume contains genealogical extracts from Portrait and Biographical Record of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The original contained portraits of citizens of the past and present, together with portraits and biographies of the presidents of the United States, published by Chapman Publishing Company, New York and Chicago, 1898. Information was gathered by a corps of writers who interviewed the subjects of the biographies. "In attempting to reduce the size of this material I the editor] have eliminated as much unnecessary wording as possible. The original contains much in the way of aggrandizing the accomplishments of the individual. I the editor] have tried to remove this while retaining some of the unique events and characterizations...." This book includes 775 biographies; with over 11,000 names. Many biographies describe several generations, often back to the emigrant ancestor. "No genealogical data or family relationships have been omitted from the original." An every-name index adds to the value of this work.

This volume contains abstracts of death and marriage notices taken from extant copies of The York Recorder at the Library of Congress. These deaths and marriages occurred in York County, Pennsylvania, (and surrounding Pennsylvania and Maryland counties) between January 6, 1821 and March 9, 1830. Records are arranged chronologically by date of publication. Death entries typically contain: full name of the deceased, age, plus place of death and/or residence. Some entries also list: occupation, cause of death, name of spouse and/or other relative. Marriage entries typically contain: full name of bride, bride's place of residence, full name of groom, groom's place of residence, and official performing the ceremony. Some entries also give the name of the father of the bride. A full name index adds to the value of this work.

York County was established in 1749 from Lancaster County, and in 1800 Adams County was founded from York County. One must consider these dates when looking for the records. These abstracts contain the names of persons mentioned in wills: decedents, heirs, trustees, guardians, witnesses, executors, debtors and relatives. They also provide references to property being devised and dates the wills were written and proved. These wills were abstracted under the auspices of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania in the early 1900s. Originally the abstracts were arranged in alphabetical order. In this version the entries have been re-arranged in chronological order.
