Nazi Germany and Southern Europe, 1933-45 is about transnational
fascist discourse. It addresses the cultural and scientific links
between Nazi Germany and Southern Europe focusing on a hybrid
international environment and an intricate set of objects that
include individual, social, cultural or scientific networks and
events.
The essays in "Europe in Black and White "offer new critical
perspectives on race, immigration, and identity on the Old
Continent. In reconsidering the various forms of encounters with
difference, such as multiculturalism and hybridity, the
contributors address a number of issues, including the cartography
of postcolonial Europe, its relation to the production of
"difference" and "race," and national and identity politics and
their dependence on linguistic practices inherited from imperial
times. Featuring scholars from a wide variety of nationalities and
disciplinary areas, this collection will speak to an equally wide
readership.
This is a book about the tensions and entangled interactions
between internationalism and nationalism, and about the effects
both had on European scientific and cultural settings from the
mid-nineteenth to the mid-twentieth century. From chemistry to
philology the essays tackle different historical case studies
exploring how the paths taken by science and culture during the
period were affected by nationalism and internationalism.
afinidades ideologicas manifestas (Italia, Espanha, Portugal). E
fazem-no, num quadro disciplinar polifacetado onde convivem e
interagem a politica, a cultura e a ciencia.
culturais e cientificos?
