This work builds on the assumption that language learning and
teaching needs to be made more relevant to the 'glocalised' digital
world we live in. Its authors argue that staff in Higher Education
(HE) must prepare students for effective online interaction and
explores the digital, linguistic and critical intercultural
components of 'global citizenship'. The book pivots around an
innovative research study; linguistic politeness frameworks are
revisited to analyse the written online exchanges on an Online
International Learning (OIL) - or intercultural telecollaborative -
project between the UK and France.Through the use of
cyberpragmatics, and inspired by Meyer and Land's 'threshold
concept pedagogy', the authors examine the challenges and solutions
identified by an 'expert student' in managing rules of engagement
and intercultural awareness when interacting online. This book will
appeal to students and scholars of applied linguistics, education,
sociolinguistics and intercultural communication, and provide a
valuable resource for teacher trainers, language teachers and
educators across the world.
'How do I say I love you? I tell you in so many ways. Holding you
close when you are small . . .' In this warm and cosy book,
children grow and families have busy lives, but there is always
time and just so many different ways to say 'I love you'. Love can
be a word or a hug. It can be a shared experience or activity, a
helping hand or a simple wave goodbye. This beautiful picture book
shares the idea that love is expressed differently, by many
different people but that it is also the thing that we all have in
common.

most powerful person in the Roman Republic, to put on his toga,
attend the dinner banquet, and eat his fowl, boiled camel's feet,
baked dormouse, and peas! It's tough finishing everything on one's
plate every night-for kids and future Caesars alike.

her and her friends using the power of restraint, kindness, and
respect. 2023 Nominee, Patricia Gallagher Children's Choice Award
"Could there be a more Oregon picture book than one starring a slug
who does yoga? Oregon author Stephanie Shaw's quirky protagonist
stars in a story in which her sly sweetness carries the day when
her animal friends' speed, strength and size all fail against a
protective gardener. Mixed-media illustrations by Fiona Lee enhance
Sylvia's elegant solution." -The Oregonian "Shaw's evocative
descriptions of the flora and fauna will engage young readers and
the author's note gives factual information about slugs and their
value to the garden's ecosystem. Lee's mixed-media illustrations
have a sophisticated palette with an aesthetic that grown-up fans
of Anna Rifle Bond will appreciate. The balance between boisterous
action and meditative zen makes this title a standout among yoga
picture books. A fun, frolicking tale, and welcome addition to
picture book collections, that sneaks in an etiquette lesson
without feeling overly didactic." -School Library Journal
"Confident in her own brand of quiet strength, Sylvia's way teaches
kids that there are different kinds of strength. And that often,
the best way to solve a problem is not with physical strength, but
with patience and words. Stephanie Shaw and Fiona Lee's depiction
of this unlikely hero is sure to find fans among yoga and garden
enthusiasts. Lee's expressive art is a perfect complement to Shaw's
simple and satisfying story. The earthy color palette allows
Sylvia's 'slime' trail of silvery, shiny gloss to take center
stage, keeping even the youngest readers entranced. Throw in some
fun yoga poses, and this book makes a delightful, interactive
read-aloud." -Good Reads with Ronna "This cute story is brought to
life by adorable pictures (the people and animals are very
expressive) and even the shiny slime trail Sylvia leaves behind."
-Youth Services Review Sylvia is as small as your pinky finger and
as slow as a. . . slug! She can't run or jump or fly like her
animal friends. They hatch a plot to sneak into the bountiful
garden. But Sylvia has her own way of doing things-one that will
make all the difference.
Brilliant Bea is an endearing and empowering story that
demonstrates that a learning difference like dyslexia doesn't
define who you are. Despite her struggles with reading and writing,
Beatrice is a natural and brilliant storyteller. With the help of a
kind-hearted teacher, Beatrice uses an old-fashioned tape recorder
so she can speak her words and them play them back, as a technique
for learning in whole new way. With her new approach, Beatrice is
able to show her classmates who she really has been all along. This
book is set in EasyReading, a dyslexia-friendly font.
On every page of this beautiful board book, Fiona Lee's charming
illustrations invite little ones to celebrate a wonderful tree,
learn its name, and say thank you for the tree's joyful, natural

birch tree for a branch to swing on to thanking a maple tree for
its colorful fall leaves and a cedar for a secret hiding place,
this sweet book teaches the youngest readers to celebrates trees
for their leaves, branches, flowers, fruits, and more.
