Juan de Valdes played a pivotal role in the febrile atmosphere of
sixteenth-century Italian religious debate. Fleeing his native
Spain after the publication in 1529 of a book condemned by the
Spanish Inquisition, he settled in Rome as a political agent of the
emperor Charles V and then in Naples, where he was at the centre of
a remarkable circle of literary and spiritual men and women
involved in the religious crisis of those years, including Peter
Martyr Vermigli, Marcantonio Flaminio, Bernardino Ochino and Giulia
Gonzaga. Although his death in 1541 marked the end of this group,
Valdes' writings were to have a decisive role in the following two
decades, when they were sponsored and diffused by important
cardinals such as Reginald Pole and Giovanni Morone, both papal
legates to the Council of Trent. The most famous book of the
Italian Reformation, the Beneficio di Cristo, translated in many
European languages, was based on Valdes' thought, and the Roman
Inquisition was very soon convinced that he had 'infected the whole
of Italy'. In this book Massimo Firpo traces the origins of Valdes'
religious experience in Erasmian Spain and in the movement of the
alumbrados, and underlines the large influence of his teachings
after his death all over Italy and beyond. In so doing he reveals
the originality of the Italian Reformation and its influence in the
radicalism of many religious exiles in Switzerland and Eastern
Europe, with their anti-Trinitarians and finally Socinian outcomes.
Based upon two extended essays originally published in Italian,
this book provides a full up-dated and revised English translation
that outlines a new perspective of the Italian religious history in
the years of the Council of Trent, from the Sack of Rome to the
triumph of the Roman Inquisition, reconstructing and rethinking it
not only as a failed expansion of the Protestant Reformation, but
as having its own peculiar originality. As such it will be welcomed
by all scholars wishin

Black Market Business is a grassroots social history of the
clandestine market for sex in colonial Tonkin. Lively and well
told, it explores the ways in which sex workers, managers, and
clients evaded the colonial regulation system in the turbulent
economy of the interwar years. Christina Elizabeth Firpo argues
that the confluence of economic, demographic, and cultural changes
sweeping late colonial Tonkin created spaces of tension in which
the interwar black market sex industry thrived. The clandestine sex
industry flourished in sites of legal inconsistency, cultural
changes, economic disparity, rural-urban division, and demographic
shifts. As a nexus of the many tensions besetting late colonial
Tonkin, the black market sex industry serves as a useful lens
through which to examine these tensions and the ways they affected
marginalized populations. More specifically, an investigation of
this black market shows how a particular population of impoverished
women-a group regrettably understudied by historians-experienced
the tensions. Drawing on an astonishingly diverse and multilingual
source base, Black Market Business includes detailed cases of
juvenile prostitution, human trafficking, and debt bondage
arrangements in sex work, as well as cases in Tonkin's bars,
hotels, singing houses, and dance clubs. Using GIS technology and
big data sets to track individual actors in history, it serves as a
model for teaching new methodological approaches to conducting
social histories of women and marginalized people.

thinking plays out in your life. If your thoughts are full of
anger, you will experience anger in your life. Adversely if you
understand absolute love and live it, you will find peace and joy.
The suffering we experience, is mainly due to our holding on to
past pains, resentments, and anger. As long as we remain in the
past in our thinking, we will suffer. As long as the cultures
across the globe remain locked into systems, which no longer work
for their citizens the people of this world will continue to
suffer. You have the miracle of mind in your grasp. Change your
perception, and how you identify with life and you will be the
revolution that is needed. This book explores the areas of life,
which keep you in bondage, and slavery. It shows you how with
thinking alone you can free yourself, and family. The bumps in the
road, the heartache, and suffering can be eliminated out of your
life. It is the Miracles of Mind, which allow this to happen. Join
with me in this most timely journey. This is a journey to create
miracles for all and eliminate suffering.
In the 1890s Blacks were tortured in German concentration camps in
Southwest Africa (now called Namibia) when Adolph Hitler was only a
child. Colonial German doctors conducted unspeakable medical
experiments on these emaciated helpless Africans decades before
such atrocities were ever visited upon the Jews. Thousands of
Africans were massacred. Regrettably, historians neglected to
properly register the slaughter-that is, to lift it from the
footnote in history that it had been relegated to-until now. In an
attempt to give the incidents their rightful recognition in the
historical context of the Holocaust, Dr. Firpo W. Carr has authored
a new book entitled, Germany's Black Holocaust: 1890-1945. In it,
he reveals the startling hidden history of Black victims of the
Holocaust. The mayhem and carnage date back to the turn of the 20th
century, many years before there were ever any other unfortunate
victims-Jew or Gentile-of the Holocaust. Carr conducted three
incredibly revealing interviews with: (1) a Black female Holocaust
victim; (2) the Black commanding officer who liberated 8,000 Black
men from a concentration camp; and (3) an African American medic
from the all-Black medical unit that was responsible for retrieving
thousands of dead bodies from Dachau. (White medical units were
spared the gruesome task.) "Kay," the Black female Holocaust
survivor, laments: "You cannot possibly comprehend the anger I have
in me because of being experimented on in Dachau, and being called
'nigger girl' and 'blacky' while growing up." Testimonials from the
Black commanding officer and African American medic are
memorialized, for the first time ever, in Carr's book. The research
is based on voluminous documentation, and more. If you are like
most people, you simply have never heard the unbelievable story of
Black victims of the Holocaust. You are invited to read about the
human spirit's triumph over events that occurred during this
horrible piece of hidden history.
This book is a response to the very disturbing book by Manning
Marable, Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention. Under the guise of
"humanizing" Malcolm, Marable and the array of secret forces behind
him in fact demonize him. To accomplish this, his book's approach
is a slow, subtle, deliberate, methodical strategy to "assassinate"
Malcolm--again--as it were, charging, among other things, that he
was both gay, and simultaneously cheated on his girlfriend with
other females. Also, Marable accuses Malcolm of having cheated on
wife Betty with several women. Convincing evidence in The
Re-Assassination of Malcolm X proves the folly of Marable's
contentions. There can be no doubt that a conglomeration of
Malcolm's long-time enemies has worked in concert to cleverly
dismantle his legacy. Marable's book is particularly insidious
because it engages the reader with fascinating details and
blow-by-blow action, then injects him with a dose of powerful
poison in the form of misinformation, or spins on the truth. You
may feel good reading his book at times, but I promise you it will
leave you with an intellectual STD Every attempt is made to
completely and thoroughly shatter any so-called "romanticized
version" of the life of Brother Minister. The Re-Assassination of
Malcolm X is an effort to set the record straight.
For over a century French officials in Indochina systematically
uprooted métis children—those born of Southeast Asian mothers
and white, African, or Indian fathers—from their homes. In many
cases, and for a wide range of reasons—death, divorce, the end of
a romance, a return to France, or because the birth was the result
of rape—the father had left the child in the mother's care.
Although the program succeeded in rescuing homeless children from
life on the streets, for those in their mothers' care it was
disastrous. Citing an 1889 French law and claiming that raising
children in the Southeast Asian cultural milieu was tantamount to
abandonment, colonial officials sought permanent, ""protective""
custody of the children, placing them in state-run orphanages or
educational institutions to be transformed into ""little
Frenchmen."" The Uprooted offers an in-depth investigation of the
colony's child-removal program: the motivations behind it,
reception of it, and resistance to it. Métis children, Eurasians
in particular, were seen as a threat on multiple fronts—colonial
security, white French dominance, and the colonial gender order.
Officials feared that abandoned métis might become paupers or
prostitutes, thereby undermining white prestige. Métis were
considered particularly vulnerable to the lure of anticolonialist
movements—their ambiguous racial identity and outsider status, it
was thought, might lead them to rebellion. Métischildren who could
pass for white also played a key role in French plans to augment
their own declining numbers and reproduce the French race, nation,
and, after World War II, empire. French child welfare organizations
continued to work in Vietnam well beyond independence, until 1975.
The story of the métis children they sought to help highlights the
importance—and vulnerability—of indigenous mothers and children
to the colonial project. Part of a larger historical trend, the
Indochina case shows striking parallels to that of Australia’s
“Stolen Generation” and the Indian and First Nations boarding
schools in the United States and Canada. This poignant and little
known story will be of interest to scholars of French and Southeast
Asian studies, colonialism, gender studies, and the historiography
of the family.
sostenemos nuestros dolores pasados, nuestros resentimientos y
rabia.
puedes liberarte a ti y a tu familia.
