Buffalo Bill - An autobiography (Paperback): N. C Wyeth Buffalo Bill - An autobiography (Paperback)
N. C Wyeth; Edited by Forgotten Phoenix Press; William F. Cody
R378 Discovery Miles 3 780 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This is the story of Colonel William F. Cody, also known as Buffalo Bill. He got his nickname after the American Civil War when he had a contract to supply Kansas Pacific Railroad workers with buffalo meat. Cody earned the nickname by killing 4,280 American bison in eighteen months, (1867-1868). Cody had documented service as a soldier during the Civil War and as Chief of Scouts for the Third Cavalry during the Plains Wars. He claimed to have had many jobs, including as a trapper, bullwhacker, "Fifty-Niner" in Colorado, a Pony Express rider in 1860, wagonmaster, stagecoach driver, and a hotel manager. He became world famous for his Wild West shows, which toured in Great Britain and Europe, and later staging wild west indian battles for films.

Forgotten Phoenix Press; Ruth Johnson
R331 Discovery Miles 3 310 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Introduce children to the wonders of nature with this beautiful guide to edible and non-edible plants. Each page is a collage of full color photographs of each plant or weed to make identification in the real world easy. Simple but clever rhymes are easy for children to recall to help remember if the plant is edible or toxic. This book is a great primer for children, and the beautiful pages make it a reference book for years to follow. Although based primarily in the northwest, this book covers over 20 prominent weeds, many of which, such as dandelions and clover, can be found across the country. This book is a must have to teach children about foraging wild food for fun or basic survival, or to prevent accidental poisoning.

Our Changing Constitution - How the Supreme Court Decides the Fate of our Nation (Paperback): Forgotten Phoenix Press Our Changing Constitution - How the Supreme Court Decides the Fate of our Nation (Paperback)
Forgotten Phoenix Press; Charles, W. Pierson
R283 Discovery Miles 2 830 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Citizens of the United States generally believe their form of government, a political system based on a written constitution, as something fixed and stable. In reality, it is undergoing a profound change. The idea which constituted its most distinctive feature, and in the belief of many represents America's most valuable contribution to the science of government, is being forgotten. Formed to be "an indestructible Union composed of indestructible states," our dual system is losing its duality. The states are fading out of the picture.
