quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
Mary Lennox was horrid. Selfish and spoilt, she was sent to stay with her uncle in Yorkshire. She hated it. But when she finds the way into a secret garden and begins to tend to it, a change comes over her and her life.
She meets and befriends a local boy, the talented Dickon, and comes across her sickly cousin Colin who had been kept hidden from her. Between them, the three children work astonishing magic in themselves and those around them.
The Secret Garden is one of the best-loved stories of all time.

Mary Lennox is a sour-faced 10-year-old girl, who is born in India to selfish wealthy British parents who had not wanted her and were too wrapped up in their own lives.
She was taken care of primarily by servants, who pacify her as much as possible to keep her out of the way. Spoiled and with a temper, she is unaffectionate, angry, rude and obstinate. Later, there is a cholera epidemic which hits India and kills her mother, father and all the servants. She is discovered alone but alive after the house is empty.
She is sent to Yorkshire, England to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven at his home called Misselthwaite Manor.

At the age of sixteen Frances Hodgson Burnett moved to Tennessee
with her bankrupt family and began writing for American magazines
as means to support herself. Over two decades later Burnett
published "Little Lord Fauntleroy," modeling the character after
her son Vivian. Burnett's text and Reginald Birch's original
illustrations helped popularize a very romantic style of dress for
boys -- a velvet suit with a broad lace collar -- in the late
nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
