A wide range of essays which provide new conceptualizations of popular culture while linking it to both its long history and some of its most exciting contemporary forms. Popular culture has always represented a fulcrum within social, cultural and anthropological discourses in Latin America. Often imagined as representing a challenge to the dominant cultural paradigms of the "lettered city", it has repeatedly been mapped onto political, economic and even libidinal boundaries - between country and city, between folk and street, between the "masses" and elite national/political structures. Yet at the turn of the 21st century, concepts such as the "folk", the "popular", the "mass" and the "multitude" have exploded in the face of new cultural and informational technologies, putting cinematic, televisual and cybernetic manifestations of popular cultureat the forefront of social processes. In order to address the fragile contemporaneity of popular culture in Latin America, the essays in this collection engage with a wide range of cultural phenomena, from forms of mass political experience in the Colonial and Independence periods, to the modern-day emergence of street art, blogs, comic books and television, as well as the recycling of refuse as art, the marketing of santeria to tourists, and the filming of poverty in the favela. In so doing, they explore the diverse regimes of affect that both sustain and destabilize national symbolic orders, and chart the novel mediations between the national and the global in a see-sawingclimate of conflicting economic and political ideologies. He has developed human-computer interfaces based on the processing of signals and has developed a system that adds spatialized sounds to the icons in a computer interface to facilitate access by individuals with "low vision." With his research team, he has explored the use of Magnetic, Angular-Rate and Gravity (MARG) sensor modules and Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) for human-computer interaction applications. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Francisco R. The body is at the same time worshipped and despised; an object of desire and of design. El objetivo del presente trabajo es ofrecer una metodologia para la gestion de los proyectos de una Administracion Publica Espanola siguiendo la norma de calidad ISO 10.006. Los datos elaborados por los distintos foros y organismos publicos dedicados al desarrollo de proyectos tecnologicos del sector publico, asi como de la propia experiencia demuestran la necesidad de metodologias que eviten las consecuencias perniciosas del elevado fracaso en los proyectos del sector publico. Para la elaboracion de la metodologia se ha realizado, en primer lugar, un estudio de las necesidades de gestion en el ambito de la Administracion Publica Espanola, a continuacion se han analizado soluciones metodologicas disponibles para el sector publico y finalmente, a los mapas obtenidos, se les aplicaron los estandares de calidad mas reconocidos. El resultado final fue aplicado en proyectos complejos y criticos del sector publico que demostraron la reduccion del numero de proyectos fracasados y una mayor motivacion en la implicacion de los gestores publicos en la ejecucion de los proyectos, requisito fundamental para la mejora de la productividad en la Administracion Publica.

La competitividad es un tema importante para los sectores productivos de Chile, sobre todo para las exportaciones de fruta fresca que compiten en los mercados internacionales. Por eso esta investigacion tiene como objetivo, analizar la competitividad del sector exportador de manzanas de la region del Maule, en los mercados asiaticos de China, Hong Kong, Taiwan e India. Para ello, se utilizo informacion primaria recopilada a traves de una encuesta probabilistica, aplicada a los exportadores de manzanas de la region. Ademas de informacion secundaria proveniente de bases de datos y de estudios previos del tema, para asi determinar cuales son las estrategias competitivas chilenas, junto con identificar las principales ventajas competitivas que desarrolla el sector exportador, al enfrentar los desafios de los mercados asiaticos."

Desde tiempos remotos, el estudio del Universo ha sido una fuente de enriquecimiento para el espiritu de la Humanidad. A partir que Galileo convirtio al catalejo en telescopio, se inicio una autentica revolucion de los conocimientos sobre el cielo. El ritmo en el que han progresado los telescopios, se ha acelerado vertiginosamente. Debieron transcurrir 79 anos, entre el telescopio de refraccion de Galileo y el de reflexion de Newton, constituyendo esto un gran salto en la Astronomia. En la actualidad, durante el tiempo de construccion de un avanzado telescopio, ya se esta disenando el que lo superara en prestaciones. Esta carrera, ha permitido detectar y estudiar fuentes de energia cada vez mas debiles, permitiendonos acercar mas a los vestigios del origen del Universo. En este libro se expone la evolucion del diseno de los telescopios opticos, cuyo diametro supera al metro, desde el que construyo Herschel, pasando por otros clasicos, que han sido vitales en el desarrollo de la Astronomia moderna, como por ejemplo el de Monte Palomar, hasta llegar a los mas modernos telescopios que estan en operacion, construccion y proyecto."
