The second edition of The Political Economy of Iraq is as
comprehensive and accessible as the first with updated data and
analysis. Frank R. Gunter discusses in detail how the convergence
of the ISIS insurgency, collapse in oil prices, and massive youth
unemployment produced a serious political crisis in 2020. This work
ends with a discussion of key policy decisions that will determine
Iraqâs future. This volume will be a valuable resource for anyone
with a professional, business, or academic interest in the
post-2003 political economy of Iraq.
Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

When John Stafford, a young man from a wealthy Philadelphia family,
graduates from college in the 1860s, he ventures to the lawless
Northwest to satisfy his basic urge to put himself to the test in
meeting the challenges of a trying environment. Adventure is what
he seeks, and adventure is what he gets. Stafford experiences many
turbulent twists and turns in his life. He marries, Little Dove, a
beautiful Indian woman of Hidatsa descent. He is accepted into her
tribe following his ingenious strategy to defeat his wife's
wrathful Blackfeet suitor. And Stafford accepts a request by
President Abraham Lincoln to form a highly proficient clandestine
fighting force to help the Indians defend themselves against the
widespread tyranny. His skilled force consists of several relatives
and close friends-black as well as white, male and female, along
with a number of Native Americans. Their exploits involve
confrontations with river pirates, whisky peddlers, a tragic
massacre by unauthorized military action an Indian reprisal, and a
marauding gang of cutthroats.
A history of piracy in the New World, with chapters devoted to such
notable buccaneers as Bartholemy Portuguez, L'Olonnois the Cruel,
Henry Morgan, Blackbeard, Mary Reed, Anne Bonny, and many more
As a young man, Frank Sinclair looked for, and found, the teaching
of G.I.Gurdjieff in Cape Town, South Africa, some eight years after
Gurdjieff's death. Moved by his first encounter with Gurdjieff's
chief pupil, Madame Jeanne de Salzmann, at Franklin Farms, the old
Ouspensky estate at Mendham, New Jersey, he extended his original
two-month visit to the United States into a stay that has lasted
more than 45 years. In this brief memoir, he describes some unusual
events surrounding the last days of Madame Ouspensky, his own
extraordinary experiences at Mendham, and his subsequent work under
the direct influence of Madame de Salzmann. He gives an intimate
account of his lifelong search for meaning, his relations with some
unusual people-'seekers all"-and concludes with some 'random
inferences" about the place of the Work in the world today.
