Technische und wirtschaftliche Dberlegungen lassen oft die Verwendung von nichtmetallischen Werkstoffen in der chemischen Technik wiinschenswert erscheinen. Dem planenden Ingenieur bereitet es aber meist groBe Schwierigkeiten, Angaben tiber das Verhalten verschiedener in Betracht kommender Werkstoffe zusammenzustellen. Es wurde deshalb schon haufig der Wunsch geauBert, das Korrosionsverhalten nichtmetallischer Werkstoffe in ahnlicher Weise behandelt zu sehen, wie es in den Korrosionstabellen metallischer Werkstoffe geschah. In jahrelanger Arbeit hat der Verfasser aus dem Schrifttum der verschiedenen Lander die Angaben tiber das Korrosionsverhalten nichtmetallischer Werkstoffe zusammengetragen und immer wieder daraufhin gesichtet, daB nur moglichst verlaB- liche Angaben in diesem Buche dem Bentitzer vorgelegt werden. ZahlenmaBige An- gaben konnen nur in einzelnen Fallen gemacht werden, meist fehlen diese aus dem Grunde, weil die zahlenmaBige Erfassung der Abtragung keinen Wert hat, da die Anderung der Gebrauchseigenschaften wie die Verminderung der Zugfestigkeit oder der Harte etwa durch Quellung schon lange vor einer merklichen Abtragung den Werkstoff unbrauchbar gemacht hat. Wohl gibt es Vorschlage fUr BewertungsmaB- stabe, die diese verschiedenen Umstande berticksichtigen, doeh konnte noeh keine derartige Bewertungsskala zur allgemeinen Annahme gelangen. Es muBten daher die Korrosionsangaben dureh die Begriffe "bestandig", "bedingt bestandig" und "unbestandig" vermittelt werden, was sieher keine in jeder Bezie- hung befriedigende Losung darstellt, aber den Vorteilleiehter Verstandliehkeit und allgemeiner Anwendbarkeit bietet. Wenn das vorliegende Bueh nunmehr den Freunden der Korrosionstabellen zur Bentitzung tibergeben wird, so gesehieht dies mit der aufriehtigen Bitte, Unter- suehungsergebnisse und Erfahrungen, die das Korrosionsverhalten niehtmetalliseher Werkstoffe betreffen, fUr die Bearbeitung einer spateren Auflage zur Verftigung zu stellen.

Die vor Jahren erschienenen Veroeffentlichungen uber Bau- stoffe sind langst vergriffen. Der Mangel an einer allgemeiE ver- standlichen, kurzgefassten Darstellung dieses Fachgebietes m cht sich um so mehr fuhlbar, als in den letzten Jahren vielfach neue Arbeitskrafte dem Bauwesen zustroemten, die bisher kaum etwas mit Baustoffen zu tun hatten. Aus diesen Grunden wurde uber An- regung aus Bauhandwerkerkreisen dieses Buch verfasst. Die Auf- gabe, alle im Bauwesen Tatigen, den Maurerlehrling, Facharbeiter, Polier und Bautechniker bis zum Baumeister und Architekten mit den Eigenschaften der Baustoffe naher vertraut zu machen, bringt die Forderung der leichtfasslichen Ausdrucksweise mit sich. Es werden daher keine besonderen Vorkenntnisse vorausgesetzt, das Buch ist vielmehr als eine Einfuhrung in die Baustoffkunde ge- dacht. Die chemischen Formeln sind zwar mitangefuhrt, ihre K, enntnis ist aber zum Verstandnis der Vorgange nicht notwendig. Um den Anschaffungspreis des Buches gering zu halten, musste manches in knapper Form behandelt werden, trotzdem werden. alle Arten von Baustoffen wie auch die Prufungsbestimmungen und Normen berucksichtigt, damit das Buch auch als Ratgeber bei der Baustoffauswahl dienen kann. Der Verfasser bittet alle Baufachleute und Baustoffirmen, ihm neue Erfahrungen mit Baustoffen mitteilen zu wollen, damit diese bei einer Neuauflage berucksichtigt werden koennen. Herrn lng.
