Bei dem unglucklichen Ausgange des Krieges liess es sich nicht uber sehen, wann und in welchem Umfange ein Kriegssanitatsbericht der Heeres verwaltung erscheinen wurde, in dem auch die Aufgaben und die Tatigkeit der Militarapotheker wahrend des Krieges sowie die Erfahrungen und Be obachtungen auf militarpharmazeutischem und chemischem Gebiete nieder zulegen waren. Mit Genehmigung des Sanitats-Departements des Kriegsministeriums habe ich daher versucht, im vorliegenden Buche unter dankenswerter Mitarbeit zahlreicher Militarapotheker sowohl des aktiven wie des Beurlaubtenstandes und unter dem frischen Eindrucke des Erlebten die Tatigkeit der deutschen Militarapotheker im Weltkriege zu veranschaulichen. Es sollte gezeigt werden, auf welch zahlreichen, wichtigen und ver antwortungsvollen Gebieten die Militarapotheker tatig gewesen sind. Dabei bin ich mir wohlbewusst, dass die Ausfuhrungen keinen Anspruch auf vollstandige und erschopfende Angaben. machen konnen, dazu liessen sich die Ergebnisse noch nicht in ihrem ganzen Umfange ubersehen, vielfach waren die Unterlagen nicht zu beschaffen. Auch musste im Hinblick auf den zur Verfugung stehenden Raum moglichste Einschrankung in der Be arbeitung der einzelnen Abschnitte obwalten, ja sogar einige als besondere Abschnitte vorgesehen gewesene Arbeitsgebiete uberhaupt wegfallen. Amtliche Unterlagen sind mir, soweit sie vorhanden waren, vom Sanitats Departement zur Verfugung gestellt worden. So sind die Abschnitte uber die chemische Tatigkeit der Militarapotheker an der Hand des vorhandenen Stoffes zusammengestellt und bearbeitet worden."
