Advanced Sparsity-Driven Models and Methods for Radar Applications (Hardcover): Gang Li Advanced Sparsity-Driven Models and Methods for Radar Applications (Hardcover)
Gang Li
R3,366 R2,947 Discovery Miles 29 470 Save R419 (12%) Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book introduces advanced sparsity-driven models and methods and their applications in radar tasks such as detection, imaging and classification. Compressed sensing (CS) is one of the most active topics in the signal processing area. By exploiting and promoting the sparsity of the signals of interest, CS offers a new framework for reducing data without compromising the performance of signal recovery, or for enhancing resolution without increasing measurements. An introductory chapter outlines the fundamentals of sparse signal recovery. The following topics are then systematically and comprehensively addressed: hybrid greedy pursuit algorithms for enhancing radar imaging quality; two-level block sparsity model for multi-channel radar signals; parametric sparse representation for radar imaging with model uncertainty; Poisson-disk sampling for high-resolution and wide-swath SAR imaging; when advanced sparse models meet coarsely quantized radar data; sparsity-aware micro-Doppler analysis for radar target classification; and distributed detection of sparse signals in radar networks via locally most powerful test. Finally, a concluding chapter summarises key points from the preceding chapters and offers concise perspectives. The book focuses on how to apply the CS-based models and algorithms to solve practical problems in radar, for the radar and signal processing research communities.

Simultaneous Global New Drug Development - Multi-Regional Clinical Trials after ICH E17 (Hardcover): Gang Li, Bruce Binkowitz,... Simultaneous Global New Drug Development - Multi-Regional Clinical Trials after ICH E17 (Hardcover)
Gang Li, Bruce Binkowitz, William Wang, Hui Quan, Josh Chen
R4,319 Discovery Miles 43 190 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Global simultaneous development is becoming more necessary as the cost of developing medical products continues to grow. The strategy of using multiregional clinical trials (MRCTs) has become the preferred method for developing new medicines. Implementing the same protocol to include subjects from many geographical regions around the world, MRCTs can speed up the patient enrolment, thus resulting in quicker drug development and obtaining faster approval of the drug globally. After the publication of the editors' first volume on this topic, there have been new developments on MRCTs. The International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) issued ICH E17, a guideline document on MRCTs, in November 2017, laying out principles on MRCTs. Beyond E17, new methodologies have been developed as well. Simultaneous Global New Drug Development: Multi-Regional Clinical Trials after ICH E17 collects chapters providing interpretations of principles in ICH E17 and new ideas of implementing MRCTs. Authors are from different regions, and from academia and industry. In addition, in contrast to the first book, new perspectives are brought to MRCT from regulatory agencies. This book will be of particular interest to biostatisticians working in late stage clinical development of medical products. It will also be especially helpful for statisticians in regulatory agencies, and medical research institutes. This book is comprehensive across the MRCT topic spectrum, including Issues regarding ICH E17 Implementation MRCT Design and Analysis Methodologies Perspectives from authorities in regulatory agencies, as well as statisticians practicing in the medical product industry Many examples of real-life applications based on actual MRCTs.

Robert Elashoff, Gang Li, Ning Li
R2,536 Discovery Miles 25 360 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Longitudinal studies often incur several problems that challenge standard statistical methods for data analysis. These problems include non-ignorable missing data in longitudinal measurements of one or more response variables, informative observation times of longitudinal data, and survival analysis with intermittently measured time-dependent covariates that are subject to measurement error and/or substantial biological variation. Joint modeling of longitudinal and time-to-event data has emerged as a novel approach to handle these issues. Joint Modeling of Longitudinal and Time-to-Event Data provides a systematic introduction and review of state-of-the-art statistical methodology in this active research field. The methods are illustrated by real data examples from a wide range of clinical research topics. A collection of data sets and software for practical implementation of the joint modeling methodologies are available through the book website. This book serves as a reference book for scientific investigators who need to analyze longitudinal and/or survival data, as well as researchers developing methodology in this field. It may also be used as a textbook for a graduate level course in biostatistics or statistics.

The Advanced Econometrics of Tourism Demand (Paperback): Haiyan Song, Stephen F. Witt, Gang Li The Advanced Econometrics of Tourism Demand (Paperback)
Haiyan Song, Stephen F. Witt, Gang Li
R1,270 Discovery Miles 12 700 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Tourism demand is the foundation on which all tourism-related business decisions ultimately rest. Governments and companies such as airlines, tour operators, hotels, cruise ship lines, and recreation facility providers are interested in the demand for their products by tourists. The success of many businesses depends largely or totally on the state of tourism demand, and ultimate management failure is quite often due to the failure to meet market demand. This book introduces students, researchers and practitioners to the modern developments in advanced econometric methodology within the context of tourism demand analysis, and illustrates these developments with actual tourism applications. The concepts and computations of modern advanced econometric modelling methodologies are introduced at a level that is accessible to specialists and non-specialists alike. The methodologies introduced include general-to-specific modelling, cointegration, vector autoregression, time varying parameter modelling, panel data analysis and the almost ideal demand system (AIDS). In order to help the reader understand the various methodologies, extensive tourism demand examples are provided throughout the volume.
