Die Bayreuther Festspiele sind die altesten Opernfestspiele. Dennoch gibt es bis heute kein Standardwerk zu ihrer Geschichte. Diese Lucke fullen nun die beiden Bande des renommierten Wagner- und Bayreuth-Fachmanns Oswald Georg Bauer.
