Director Fritz Lang's political thriller follows a British hunter's
attempts to outrun Nazi agents after he targets Adolf Hitler. While
on holiday in Bavaria, willdlife hunter Alan Thorndike (Walter
Pidgeon) stumbles upon the Fuhrer's country retreat, eventually
spotting Hitler in the gardens. After lining up the leader in the
crosshairs of his empty rifle, Thorndike is arrested by members of
Hitler's Gestapo bodyguard, who try to beat a confession out of
him. After eventually escaping and navigating a tortuous route back
to Britain, Thorndike is forced to seek help from local seamstress
Jerry Stokes (Joan Bennett) when he discovers German agents are
hunting him down.
Ingrid Bergman and George Sanders star in this romantic drama
co-written and directed by Roberto Rossellini. Wealthy English
couple Katherine Joyce (Bergman) and her husband Alex (Sanders)
travel to Italy to sell a villa they have inherited. Far from their
London home, Katherine confesses to having had a secret lover and
finds her husband becomes even more distant with her; to such an
extent that they decide to finish their holiday apart. Whilst Alex
enjoys the company of other expatriates on the island of Capri,
Katherine tours around the sights of Naples and Pompeii. However,
the different events they experience begin to bring the couple back
together.
Honne, the Spirit of the Chehalis embodies a narrative tour de
force that interweaves episodes (that stand alone in ordinary
tellings) into an integrated series of installments. This
collection of Salish stories features the Changer's efforts to
successively transform a proto-being or spirit into the present
form of a named species (deer, owl, shark, sea otter, and others).
Additional stories describe how the Changer allowed Bear or Ant to
apportion day and night; permitted Frog to schedule tides; and
taught humans how to cook meat and clams, hunt with a bow, dry
berries, cure sickness, settle communities, and prepare for the
afterworld. These tales are told by George Sanders, a master
storyteller whose family included chiefs of the Nisqually Indian
tribe, which lives south of what is now Tacoma, Washington. As part
of the oral tradition, these stories were rarely heard by those
outside the area until Katherine Van Winkle Palmer, daughter of the
local doctor, collected them for posterity. Jay Miller introduces
this new edition with a close look at the linguistic complexity of
the region, which testifies to the rich diversity of the Americas
before epidemics and dislocations took their devastating toll. By
weaving together these masterful installments, Honne, the Spirit of
the Chehalis provides an evocative example of interwoven Salish
oral literature at its best.

Religion plays a vital role in geopolitics and in the course of
student's lives even if they are not religious. Yet, students often
lack a framework for understanding how current arrangements and
situations came to be or for understanding why religion operates as
such an important force. Featuring a unique approach, The Air We
Breathe: A Sociology of Religion helps students learn sociology by
studying religion. The book is situated around themes that apply
across the field, not just to religion, and includes theories and
ideas from outside of the subfield when appropriate (e.g., gender,
organizational theory, group theory, etc.). The Air We Breathe: A
Sociology of Religion by George Sanders and Josh Packard: Gets
readers to apply the sociological perspective by drawing on the
available research and theories in the sociology of religion and
the larger discipline of sociology to answer overriding questions
about how religion shapes and is shaped by larger social forces.
Incorporates more recent empirical and theoretical developments
that have taken place outside of the sociology of religion. Is
organized around central, interesting questions that students find
accessible. These questions are answered with current research that
has been applied in order to highlight the pragmatism of sociology
of religion research. Features an international, pragmatic,
comparative approach that illustrates the unique role of religion
in the modern world and highlights how it shapes and is shaped by
other social forces and institutions.

gerat Katja in hochste Lebensgefahr.
VELTEN & MARCKS - MORDFALL TINA HOFER"
