Like a beacon of light in a dark world, the soul of a young
magician walks the border between this world and the next. The
spirit rider must unify her kingdom of magic, or all shall perish.

"Data Analysis with SPSS"is designed to teach students how to
explore data in a systematic manner using the most popular
professional social statistics program on the market today. Written
in ten manageable chapters, this book first introduces students to
the approach researchers use to frame research questions and the
logic of establishing causal relations. Students are then oriented
to the SPSS program and how to examine data sets. Subsequent
chapters guide them through univariate analysis, bivariate
analysis, graphic analysis, and multivariate analysis. Students
conclude their course by learning how to write a research report
and by engaging in their own research project. Each book is
packaged with a disk containing the GSS (General Social Survey)
file and the States data files. The GSS file contains 100 variables
generated from interviews with 2,900 people, concerning their
behaviors and attitudes on a wide variety of issues such as
abortion, religion, prejudice, sexuality, and politics. The States
data allows comparison of all 50 states with 400 variables
indicating issues such as unemployment, environment, criminality,
population, and education. Students will ultimately use these data
to conduct their own independent research project with SPSS. Note:

There is a saying: knowledge is power. The secret is this.
Knowledge, applied at the right time and place, is more than power.
It's magic. That's what the Black Panther Party did. They called up
this magic and launched a revolution. In the beginning, it was a
story like any other. It could have been yours and it could have
been mine. But once it got going, it became more than any one
person could have imagined. This is the story of Huey and Bobby.
Eldridge and Kathleen. Elaine and Fred and Ericka. The committed
party members. Their supporters and allies. The Free Breakfast
Program and the Ten Point Program. It's about Black nationalism,
Black radicalism, about Black people in America. From the authors
of the acclaimed book, Black Against Empire: The History and
Politics of the Black Panther Party, and introducing new talent
Jetta Grace Martin, comes the story of the Panthers for younger
readers-meticulously researched, thrillingly told, and filled with
incredible photographs throughout. Freedom! The Story of the Black
Panther Party.

Through the diaries of nine men and women We Shall Never Surrender
tells the story of the war as they experienced it, whether at home
struggling simply to keep going, in high office with direct
influence on its outcome, or protesting against it. Some of them,
like Alan Brooke, who became Chief of the General Staff, the
politician Harold Nicolson or the pacifist writer Vera Brittain,
are well known. Others - Anne Garnett, the wife of a country
solicitor, George Beardmore, a young husband and father with
ambitions to become a novelist, or Clara Milburn, a contended wife
and mother of an adult son - are not. But in their diaries they all
- together with the diplomat Charles Ritchie, the novelist Naomi
Mitchison and the resourceful and frequently unconventional
Hermione, Countess of Ranfurly -followed the war in their diaries
from outbreak to victory. For some, keeping a diary was a way of
documenting their hopes and fears for an unforeseen future. For
others, it was a way of carefully preserving their lives on the
page, uncertain in what state they would find the world the next
time they woke. Together they constitute a remarkable record of
human endeavour and human cost, at a time when the whole world was
locked in conflict and it often seemed that the outcome rested on
the shoulders of one small island.
In these cloudy times, what light can an Appalachian 8-year old
shed on the Creator, the created, and creating? It will stretch
your faith to believe. . . In this inspired stream of story-poems,
prayers, songs and ideas, Shayley shares her insights on life: God,
nature, and her mind's own characters and worlds. Then, in the
final chapter, she includes new games and projects other kids and
families may want to try to kick-start new adventures.
The popularity of Yunus Emre, who is often referred to as the
Turkish national poet, has endured for six centuries. Yunus is the
most important representative of early Turkish mysticism; he can be
considered the founder of Alevi-Bektasi literature, and his
influence on later "tekke" poetry was enormous. His "ilahis"
(hymns) have played an important role in sufi ceremonies. Grace
Martin Smith's translation of Yunus's poetry will acquaint the
non-Turkish reader with the art and thinking of one of Turkey's
most significant poets and will be helpful to students of both
modern and Ottoman Turkish and to all those interested in Islamic
poetry and piety.
As playwright, actor, director, teacher, mentor, theatre
administrator, and critic, Sharon Pollock has played an integral
role in the shaping of Canada's national theatre tradition, and she
continues to produce new works and to contribute to Canadian
theatre as passionately as she has done over the past fifty years.
Pollock is nationally and internationally respected for her work
and support of the theatre community. She has also played a major
role in informing Canadians about the "dark side" of their history
and current events. This collection, comprised entirely of new and
original assessments of her work and contribution to theatre, is
both timely and long overdue. Includes a new play titled "Sharon's
Tongue" by the Playing with Pollock Collective With contributions
