4 World Champions. 3 Priceless Points. 2 Cups Back-To-Back. 1
Phenomenal Journey
In this timely follow-up to The Fireside Springbok, Bok to Bok details
the electrifying Springbok campaign at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Featuring Mike Greenaway's analysis as well as the words from various
Springbok Team Players and Coaches, perfectly complemented by the
images of Steve Haag and other photographers. Discover the story behind
the Springboks' rugby success in this riveting account showcasing their
unwavering dedication to uplifting South Africans through the sport
they love. Dive into the heart of a team that plays not just to win,
but to unite and inspire a nation.
The legendary All-Black captain Richie McCaw once said that an
advantage the Springboks enjoyed was the responsibility they felt to
play for the greater good of their country. McCaw came to that
conclusion after sharing a room with Bok captain John Smit for a
week before a game for the Barbarians. McCaw was spot on. The deep
urge the Boks feel to help South Africans endure hardships by
winning rugby games is at the heart of how in 2023 they defended
the World Cup title they had won in 2019.
That 2019 win for Siya Kolisi's team was unexpected and the players
were thrilled to see what the win meant for a country that
suffers more than most. Kolisi's men have said they went to
France with greater pressure on them compared to Japan four years
before. This time they knew millions of their countrymen were counting
on them to bring home the Webb Ellis Cup. There was expectation
of happy times and that gave the players a strong responsibility
to deliver. That sense of duty explains why the Boks, on three
weekends in a row, finished on the right side of one-point victories
over the best teams in the world.
To win one game by one point could be luck, but to do it three times in
a row is not. France coach Fabian Galthié said after his team had
lost to South Africa in the quarter- finals: "One point can be nothing
but also everything.* Never were truer words said because when it
truly mattered, the Boks dug deep and found a way to get over the
line with their noses in front. Again and again and again. When
the final whistle sounded to spark mass celebrations in South
Africa, SuperSport commentator Matthew Pearce encapsulated the
moment perfectly.
He roared:
IT'S OVER!
THE SPRINGBOKS GO BACK-TO-BACK, THEY GO BOK TO BOK!
THEY ARE THE FIRST TO FOUR!
This book tells you how the Springboks did it, with Mike Greenaway's
analysis and the words of the players and coaches perfectly
complemented by the images of Steve Haag and other photographers.

Longlisted for the 2022 International Gothic Association's Allan
Lloyd Smith Prize Surpassing scholarly discourse surrounding the
emergent secularism of the 19th century, Theology, Horror and
Fiction argues that the Victorian Gothic is a genre fascinated with
the immaterial. Through close readings of popular Gothic novels
across the 19th century – Frankenstein, Wuthering Heights,
Dracula and The Picture of Dorian Gray, among others – Jonathan
Greenaway demonstrates that to understand and read Gothic novels is
to be drawn into the discourses of theology. Despite the
differences in time, place and context that informed the writers of
these stories, the Gothic novel is irreducibly fascinated with
religious and theological ideas, and this angle has been often
overlooked in broader scholarly investigations into the
intersections between literature and religion. Combining historical
theological awareness with interventions into contemporary
theology, particularly around imaginative apologetics and theology
and the arts, Jonathan Greenaway offers the beginnings of a modern
theology of the Gothic.
Hard Truth: Growing out of Adversity, tells the remarkable story of
the author's journey towards healing and resilience. Having lost
her father during her childhood the author retraces her earliest
memories of growing up in the idyllic setting of Barbados. While
happy and securely attached to her parents she experienced poverty.
Her mother's decision to emigrate to England to find a new life for
her family increased the sense of loss she suffered during her most
formative years. Ince-Greenaway's explanation of her experiences of
arriving in England during the Windrush years demonstrates the
enduring impact of discrimination and racism she faced in the
community where she lived and during her education. The Christian
values she was taught by her mother during her childhood became the
backdrop for her resilience as she faced the death of her husband
who was the second Black police officer in the Metropolitan Police.
She tells of the trauma that resulted from his death. As she
grieved the loss of her husband, she had the bitter-sweet
experience of accepting the gift of his son one week after his
death. As the author transitioned to becoming a single parent, she
fought against the odds to hold onto life in the middle of a
frightening, devastating and life-threatening experience. Told
through Christian lenses, the author describes the moments that
drastically changed and shaped her life as well as the values that
sustained her through a bitter experience. Hard Truth is a dynamic
and compelling story that will inspire readers. It is a story that
is personalised, educational and inspirational no matter where
people are on their journey. It is empowering and a relatable story
of triumph over adversity, progress over brokenness and success
over misfortune. Hard Truth intensifies the importance of
self-refection and personal empowerment. It is written for
audiences everywhere and for people of all ages.
As the volcano erupted on the island of Montserrat, it destroyed
everything in its path. The Montserrat folk fled from the hot ash
and exploding mountains, many as far as other countries, most
notably England. Author Sharmen D. Greenaway, a native of the
island, was one of many who sought refuge in England; however, most
of the island's inhabitants were not prepared for life in this new
place. The winters were harsh, and the disaster had stripped them
of their financial and emotional security. They were not considered
refugees, and they didn't qualify for the same type of jobs and
statuses they previously held. Many faced a tough choice: remain in
modern England or return to their devastated island home to face
the furious volcano and serious economic deprivation. Another
challenge they faced and still face today is that of preserving the
Montserrat culture, something seemingly insignificant in
multicultural England. Preserving the island's language and customs
seems an insurmountable task. What will become of the island's
national dish, its folk music, and dancing? Join Greenaway as she
explores her own challenges and those of fellow Montserratians in
"Montserrat in England."
Two words describe a "modern" world: limits and limitless.
Traditionally, humans recognized limits of their power. Modernity
meant a break. Its protagonists aspired to bring worlds of their
imagination into reality. They taught a new anthropology. Humans
could ascend to a God-like status. Schabert analyzes the history of
the project and its result: a civilization in a perennial crisis.
Symptoms of the crisis have been exposed, today mostly in
ecological terms. Schabert takes his material from many fields:
philosophy, cosmology, natural sciences, literature, social
studies, economics, architecture, and political thought. While
modernity is endlessly disrupted, a world beyond modernity can be
traced, especially in the modern theory of constitutional
government. Constitutional governments are formed by limitations
within a civilization that is meant to have no limits. What appears
to be paradoxical has its own logic, as Baruch Spinoza, John Locke,
Montesquieu, John Adams, the Federalist Papers, John Stuart Mill,
Walter Bagehot, and Woodrow Wilson have shown. Schabert carefully
explicates their constitutional thought. It realized the limits
through which modernity holds a promise.
"The In between" details the years of what seemed like wasted
unsuccessful time to Tessa, since she graduated high school in the
year 2005. After nearly 12 years of being `stuck' in life and not
finding escape to the never ending maze of failure, she decides to
quit looking around and start looking up. Tessa believes this story
can help those young people like herself who are about to embark on
the adventure of college and those going through real life ordeals
after leaving school. This book tells the true story of Tessa's
struggle to stay afloat and quest for peace of mind despite her
failure to reach the high expectations of her family and peers.
