In India, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train travelling away from his home and family. Frightened and bewildered, he ends up thousands of miles away, in chaotic Kolkata. Somehow he survives living on the streets, escaping all sorts of terrors and close calls in the process, before ending up in an orphanage that is itself not exactly a safe haven. Eventually Saroo is adopted by an Australian couple, and finds love and security as he grows up in Hobart. Not wanting to hurt his adoptive parents feelings, he suppresses his past, his emotional need for reunification, and his hope of ever finding his lost mother and brother. But a chance meeting with some fellow Indians reawakens his buried yearning. With just a small store of memories and his unwavering determination, Saroo embarks on one of the greatest needle-in-a-haystack quests of modern times.
Brad Pitt stars in this darkly comic thriller based on a 1974 George V. Higgins crime novel. Jackie Cogan (Pitt) is a professional 'point man' - that is, the investigator who prepares the way for a hitman - who is assigned to track down a pair of junkies who have ripped off a mob-protected poker game. The star-studded supporting cast includes Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini, Scoot McNairy and Sam Shepard.
Gareth Edwards directs this sci-fi adventure set in the 'Star Wars' universe, featuring a stand-alone story written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy. After being recruited by Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), former criminal Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is tasked with stealing the plans for the Death Star so that the weapon can be destroyed before it causes damage to the galaxy. Teaming up with Rebel Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), master swordsman Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) and a band of hardy freedom fighters, Jyn takes on the might of the Empire in a challenge tougher than anything she could have imagined. The cast also includes Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk.
