This volume contains the technical papers presented in the workshops, PhD Symposium and EU Projects Track which took place at the 8th European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing, ESOCC 2020, held in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, in September 2020: 1st International Workshop on Edge Adoption and Migration, EdgeWays 2020, 16th International Workshop on Engineering Service-Oriented Applications and Cloud Services, WESOACS 2020, ESOCC 2020 PhD Symposium, ESOCC 2020 EU Projects Track. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference and workshops were held in a virtual format. The 17 full papers and 2 short papers were reviewed and selected from 22 submissions. The papers focus on specific topics in service-oriented and cloud computing domains such as limits and/or advantages of existing cloud solutions, future internet technologies, efficient and adaptive deployment and management of service-based applications across multiple clouds, novel cloud service migration practices and solutions, digitization of enterprises in the cloud computing era, federated cloud networking services.

Web services provide systems with great flexibility and easier maintenance which result in better ways to communicate and distribute applications. There are good procedures in place for the design, development, and management of Web services; however, there are areas in which Web service adaptation is required. To preserve the loosely coupled approach of Web services, service adaptations should be implemented appropriately. Adaptive Web Services for Modular and Reusable Software Development: Tactics and Solutions includes current research on the area of Web service adaptation while embarking upon the different aspects related to Web services. This collection provides an overview of existing solutions for service adaption in different development scopes as well as covers a wide variety of challenges which emerge. It aims to keep industry professionals as well as academic researchers up to date with the latest research results.

El uso de pravastatina como tratamiento medico para las hiperlipidemias y su principal complicacion, la enfermedad aterosclerosa coronaria, es eficaz ya que modifica la homeostasis del colesterol y juega un papel muy importante en el inicio y progresion de la cardiopatia isquemica, principal causa de muerte en nuestro pais desde hace mas de cuatro decadas. Asi como en multiples estudios se han reportado diferencias en la respuesta al tratamiento con pravastatina en relacion con su origen etnico, edad, genero e indice de masa corporal, se reconocen diferencias interraciales en las frecuencias de los polimorfismos CYP3A4*1B, CYP3A5*3 y *6, por lo que el objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar la participacion de los genes CYP3A4 y CYP3A5 en la variacion de la dosis de pravastatina en poblacion mexicana."
