Body Sensor Networks (Hardcover, 2nd ed. 2014): Guang-Zhong Yang Body Sensor Networks (Hardcover, 2nd ed. 2014)
Guang-Zhong Yang
R3,215 Discovery Miles 32 150 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The last decade has witnessed a rapid surge of interest in new sensing and monitoring devices for wellbeing and healthcare. One key development in this area is wireless, wearable and implantable "in vivo" monitoring and intervention. A myriad of platforms are now available from both academic institutions and commercial organisations. They permit the management of patients with both acute and chronic symptoms, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, treatment of epilepsy and other debilitating neurological disorders. Despite extensive developments in sensing technologies, there are significant research issues related to system integration, sensor miniaturisation, low-power sensor interface, wireless telemetry and signal processing.

In the 2nd edition of this popular and authoritative reference on Body Sensor Networks (BSN), major topics related to the latest technological developments and potential clinical applications are discussed, with contents covering.

Biosensor Design, Interfacing and Nanotechnology

Wireless Communication and Network Topologies

Communication Protocols and Standards

Energy Harvesting and Power Delivery

Ultra-low Power Bio-inspired Processing

Multi-sensor Fusion and Context Aware Sensing

Autonomic Sensing

Wearable, Ingestible Sensor Integration and Exemplar Applications

System Integration and Wireless Sensor Microsystems

The book also provides a comprehensive review of the current wireless sensor development platforms and a step-by-step guide to developing your own BSN applications through the use of BSN development kit.

R1,496 Discovery Miles 14 960 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book constitutes the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Information Processing in Computer-Assisted Interventions IPCAI 2011, held in Berlin, Germany, on June 22, 2011. The 17 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 29 submissions. The focus of the conference is the use of information technology in interventional medicine, including real-time modeling and analysis, technology, human-machine interfaces, and systems associated with operating rooms and interventional suites. It also covers the overall information flow associated with intervention planning, execution, follow-up, and outcome analysis; as well as training and skill assessment for such procedures.

The two-volume set LNCS 5761 and LNCS 5762 constitute the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention, MICCAI 2009, held in London, UK, in September 2009.

Based on rigorous peer reviews, the program committee carefully selected 259 revised papers from 804 submissions for presentation in two volumes. The first volume includes 125 papers divided in topical sections on cardiovascular image guided intervention and robotics; surgical navigation and tissue interaction; intra-operative imaging and endoscopic navigation; motion modeling and image formation; image registration; modeling and segmentation; image segmentation and classification; segmentation and atlas based techniques; neuroimage analysis; surgical navigation and robotics; image registration; and neuroimage analysis: structure and function.

R1,672 Discovery Miles 16 720 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

Rapid technical advances in medical imaging, including its growing application to drug/gene therapy and invasive/interventional procedures, have attracted significant interest in close integration of research in life sciences, medicine, physical sciences and engineering. This is motivated by the clinical and basic science research requi- ment of obtaining more detailed physiological and pathological information about the body for establishing localized genesis and progression of diseases. Current research is also motivated by the fact that medical imaging is increasingly moving from a primarily diagnostic modality towards a therapeutic and interventional aid, driven by recent advances in minimal-access and robotic-assisted surgery. It was our great pleasure to welcome the attendees to MIAR 2004, the 2nd Int- national Workshop on Medical Imaging and Augmented Reality, held at the Xia- shan (Fragrant Hills) Hotel, Beijing, during August 19 20, 2004. The goal of MIAR 2004 was to bring together researchers in computer vision, graphics, robotics, and medical imaging to present the state-of-the-art developments in this ever-growing research area. The meeting consisted of a single track of oral/poster presentations, with each session led by an invited lecture from our distinguished international f- ulty members. For MIAR 2004, we received 93 full submissions, which were sub- quently reviewed by up to 5 reviewers, resulting in the acceptance of the 41 full - pers included in this volume."
