It is not necessarily assumed that the reader attracted to the book has a detailed knowledge of adverse oral habits, its relation to dentofacial structures and the malocclusion caused by them. The delicate shading involved in a decision on just what is normal or abnormal and the dividing line between physiologic and pathologic are often established by the interaction of the training, clinical experience and philosophical bent of the dentist. Orofacial injuries continue to occur in high incidence in sporting events. Acute management of these injuries determines the extent to which the dental disability is recoverable.
