'The Fortunes of Richard Mahony' is the masterpiece of the
Australian writer Henry Handel Richardson. It consists of three
parts: Australia Felix (1917), The Way Home (1925), and Ultima
Thule (1929). The trilogy was collected in 1930 under the title by
which it is now best known. Set in Australia during the gold rush
of the mid-nineteenth century, the three novels trace the rise and
fall of the title character against the backdrop of colonial
expansion (and, indeed, contraction). The story begins in the
1850's. and follows the course Richard Mahoney's life from his days
as a store-keeper in shanty-town Ballarat during the gold rush,
through the vicissitudes of his interrupted career as a doctor,
until the final tragedy of his death.

This early works is a fascinating composition by G.F.Handel from
the year 1746. Many of the earliest books, particularly those
dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and
increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in
affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text
and artwork.
It's an all-new thrilling adventure about growing up and facing
your fears in Monsters Take Manhattan, the second novel in the
Monster Club series from the creative minds of Darren Aronofsky,
Ari Handel, and Lance Rubin. Ever since Eric "Doodles" King and his
friends saved Coney Island from Crumple Monster and its minions,
Eric's life has been changing faster than he ever expected. His
parents' divorce has gone through, his mom has moved to a deluxe
apartment in Manhattan, and now she's making him start all over at
a fancy new private school. Suddenly, Eric's trapped between two
worlds - his old Coney Island friends and the rich, cool kids at
his new school who treat him like a celebrity. At least, Eric
thinks, his days of epic monster battles are behind him. But what
he doesn't realize is that the magic mermaid ink that brought his
drawings to life hasn't been destroyed like he thought. Quite the
opposite, King Neptune has found a way to take the last remaining
drops to create a new class of creatures perfectly designed to put
New York City right back where it belongs - underwater. Now it's up
to Eric to rally Monster Club again and find a way to bring back
Brickman, Bellybeast, Skelegurl, DecaSpyder, and RoboKillz so they
can stop Neptune before it's too late. Monster Club: Monsters Take
Manhattan is the second epic, heart-pounding adventure from
award-winning screenwriter, director, and author Darren Aronofsky,
Ari Handel, and Lance Rubin.
Within the various aspects of life-science technologies medicine
and information technology will change next millennium's
quality-of-life fundamentally. Thanks to the rapid growth of
telecommunication industry and the success and popularity of the
internet the face of medicine will essentially change, because
information technology is expected to play a major role in future
health care systems. The conference MEDICOM 2000 is a discussion
forum on fast and cost efficient patient-data exchange systems
between doctors' offices, medical laboratories, telearchive
services, health care insurances, highly specialized experts in
hospitals etc. The conference brought together scientific, medical
and application experts from university, clinical and commercial
sites of both areas - medicine and communication - to stimulate
synergy between these rapidly evolving future technologies. We
would like to acknowledge all the parties who contributed to the
success of the conference. Especially, we would like to thank
Gisela Niedzwetzki and Waltraud Ott for secretarial support as well
as Dirk Thomsen for web mastering. Additionally, we have to
acknowledge the valuable support of Holger Dorle, Thomas Giese,
Peter Just, Stefan Klockner, Heike Lahr and Kerstin Ltidtke-Buzug
during the conference.
