Three decades after the decision to allow the ordination of women
to the priesthood, nine lay women in the Church of England have
written their thoughts on what it means to be committed to being
'lay' in the contemporary church and world. For more than twenty
years the writers have been part of an Anglican lay women's group,
meeting, sharing and reflecting together. Edgewise? collects their
individual perspectives on being a lay woman in the church since
the opportunity for ordination became a reality, with some threads
and themes in common and others unique. The result is a
fascinating, thoughtful snapshot of several lives and diverse
experiences which presents rich material for reflection by all in
the twenty-first-century Church of England and beyond.
This little book invites people to try out a way of prayer that has
been used down the centuries. It is compact and easy to use: no
need to find different material in different places - all you need
is on the page. It can also be useful for prayer away from home as
the bible readings and psalms are included in each office.
"Understanding Love" is about the lessons learned about love
through relationships and time. This book speaks on what love is
and is not and self love. For an emotional journey and heart
grabbing story, read "Understanding Love" by Hannah Ward.
This is the third volume published in a three-volume set of
lectionary resources, providing preachers and worship leaders of
all denominations a host of written material for worship and
reflection. Designed to complement the three volumes in WJK's
acclaimed "Texts for Preaching," this book weaves together a rich
tapestry of quotations, meditations, poems, and prayers. With
material from both classic and contemporary spiritual writings,
"Resources for Preaching and Worship" complements the lectionary
readings for Sundays and important festival days in the church's
year. Biblical and thematic indexes are included.
This ecumenical collection of prayers, liturgies and rituals seeks
to illustrate the impressive creativity fo liturgy from the ground
up - from congregations, groups and individuals struggling to come
to terms with change and all the celebration and loss which that
involves. A wealth of human experiences is explored and expressed
through experimental rituals: expressions of god, namings,
affirming relationships, separating, dying, grieving, healing,
retirement, abortion, miscarriage, and much more. It is hoped that
this anthology will imspire and enable others to construct their
own liturgies, rituals, blessings and prayers. Hannah Ward and
Jennifer Wild are former members of Anglican religious orders. They
are co-founders of Womanpsace, a spritituality programme. Their
book Guard the Chaos: Finding Meaning in Change was published in
1995.
