Allow yourself to let go, be healed and enjoy life again Forgiveness has often incorrectly been associated with negativity and weakness. It has even been said that it means agreeing with sin and hurt. Yet genuine forgiveness says: ''It hurt me. You hurt me. But I choose to let go, so I can be healed. I give you over to God.'' Dealing with forgiveness has been one of the most challenging issues of my life. Bitterness can cause deep wounds, which can steal your joy and make you ill. However, the good news is that deliverance is possible through forgiveness. Once I discovered the freedom of letting go, I regained my confidence, my abillity to enjoy life and the courage to love again. John 8:36: ''If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.''

There is a Dutch saying: 'We never know what happens behind closed curtains.' This is certainly the case when talking about the Dutch Hypercalvinist churches I grew up in. Covering myself religiously from head to toe, abuse from my father and twisted doctrines by the church left me in utter despair. This is my story, which I have written to take you on a journey into the closed, mysterious and sectarian world of the Hypercalvinists with its beliefs and traditions. If you come from a similar church background (or even a very different background), please let me challenge and encourage you to be healed & truly set free Isaiah 61:3b: Beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness...

Er is een gezegde: 'We weten nooit wat er achter gesloten gordijnen gebeurt.' Dit is zeker het geval als we praten over de 'zware kerken' waar ik in ben opgegroeid. Religieuze bedekking van top tot teen, mishandeling van mijn vader en verdraaide theologie van de kerk leidde mij tot uiterste wanhoop. Dit is mijn verhaal, dat ik heb geschreven om je mee te nemen naar de gesloten, mysterieuze en sektarische wereld van het Hypercalvinisme met diens gebruiken en tradities. Als je zelf uit een soortgelijke kerk komt (of een hele andere achtergrond hebt), laat me je dan uitdagen volledig genezen en vrijgezet te worden Jesaja 61:3b: "Een kroon op hun hoofd in plaats van stof, vreugdeolie in plaats van een rouwgewaad, feestkledij in plaats van verslagenheid."
