HPTLC and HPLC are most commonly used chromatographic technique, which is powerful analytical determination and validation of several biomarkers. Results obtained are simple, precise and accurate signifying well quality fingerprint profile of various phytoconsituents as a biomarker obtained from nature. Luteolin is a flavonoid, mostly belongs to class of bioflavonoids and shows antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. It is found in high amounts in parsley, thyme, peppermint, basil herb, celery and artichoke. It is a well documented biomarker of Elliptica elba. To validate and optimize luteolin from herbal formulation and plant extracts using HPTLC and HPLC, several procedures are well defined and results are well validated.
The history of anatomy has been characterized, over time, by a continually developing understanding of the functions of organs and structures in the body. Methods have also improved dramatically, advancing from examination of animals through dissection of cadavers (dead human bodies) to technologically complex techniques developed in the 20th century including X-ray, ultrasound, and MRI. Anatomy should not be confused with anatomical pathology (morbid anatomy or histopathology), which is the study of the gross and microscopic appearances of diseased organs. This book offers applicable knowledge of the structure of the human body and foundation information for understanding physiology, cell & tissue biology, developmental biology (bones, joint, blood & skeletal muscles), CVS, digestive, respiratory, urinary, endocrine, nervous and reproductive systems. The functions of the various organ systems and the organs associated with each system are described. Non-communicable diseases are also mentioned to facilitate students for awaring significant facts to the real-world situations and help them to encounter in their chosen profession.
New drug discovery and development is a complex, flexible and cost-effective but systematic process that follows a sequence of clinical steps, rules and regulations governed by the experienced regulatory authorities in each country. The rules laid down by the experienced authorities consistently have need of the code of ethics by which every individual involved in clinical research has to stand. Besides these ethical principles, a clinical trial involves multidisciplinary functions which require concepts and approaches, using modern research tools and techniques. In this book, the authors discuss some of key functions in clinical trial management as drug development process, clinical trials design, good clinical practices, roles and responsibilities of clinical trial personnel, regulatory processes/issues and the processes involved in performing excellent monitoring functions for the successful clinical study. This book also facilitates the understanding of the importance of ethics in clinical studies and the evolution of various guidelines, rules and regulations for the management of a clinical trials.
Hypertension is one of the most common worldwide diseases afflicting humans. Over the past several decades, extensive research, widespread patient education, and a concerted effort on the part of health care professionals have led to decreased mortality and morbidity rates from the multiple organ damage arising from years of untreated hypertension. Approximately 50 million people in the United States are affected by hypertension. Substantial improvements have been made with regard to improving awareness and treatment of hypertension. However, approximately 30% of adults are still unaware of their hypertension; up to 40% of people with hypertension are not receiving treatment; and, of those treated, up to 67% do not have their blood pressure (BP) controlled to less than 140/90 mm Hg. The classification of BP (expressed in mm Hg) for adults aged 18 years or older is as follows: Normal - Systolic lower than 120, diastolic lower than 80 Prehypertension - Systolic 120-139, diastolic 80-90 Stage 1 - Systolic 140-159, diastolic 90-99 Stage 2 - Systolic equal to or more than 160, diastolic equal to or more than 100.
