Small-Animal SPECT Imaging is an edited work derived from the first workshop on Small-Animal SPECT Imaging held January 14-16, 2004 at the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ, USA. The overall goal of the meeting and therefore this volume is to promote information exchange and collaboration between the research groups developing systems for small-animal applications. Topics include the biomedical significance of small-animal imaging, an overview of detector technologies including scintillation cameras and semi-conductor arrays, imager design and data acquisition systems, animal handling and anesthesia issues, objective assessment of image quality, and system modeling and reconstruction algorithms.

Radiological Imaging: The Theory of Image Formation, Detection, and Processing is intended to prepare the student to do research in radiological imaging, to teach general image science within a radiographic context, and to help the student gain fluency with the essential analytical tools of linear systems theory and the theory of stochastic processes that are applicable to any imaging system. The book contains chapters devoted to the discussion of linear systems, Poisson processes, analysis of radiographic systems, radiographic image detectors, and the various aspects of three-dimensional or tomographic imaging. Computed tomography, psychophysics, and scattered radiation and its effect on image are also elucidated. Radiology technicians will find the book very invaluable.

This volume contains the proceedings of the thirteenth biennial International Conference on Information Processing in Medical Imaging (IPMI XIII), held on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, in June 1993. This conference was the latest in a series of meetings where new developments in the acquisition, analysis and utilization of medical images are presented, discussed, dissected, and extended. Today IPMI is widely recognized as a preeminent international forum for presentation of cutting-edge research in medical imaging and imageanalysis. The volume contains the text of the papers presented orally atIPMI XIII. Over 100 manuscripts were submitted and critically reviewed, of which 35 were selected for presentation. In this volume they are arranged into nine categories: shape description with deformable models, abstractshape description, knowledge-based systems, neural networks, novel imaging methods, tomographic reconstruction, image sequences, statistical pattern recognition, and image quality.
