Luke (an Oscar-nominated Paul Newman) is sent to a Deep South chain gang after smashing up some parking meters. Convict boss Dragline (an Oscar-winning George Kennedy) tries to crack the new inmate's spirit but Luke refuses to be broken. Reformed safecracker Donn Pearce based his novel and screenplay on his own experiences of imprisonment.
Cult road trip movie beloved of car and music fans for featuring an impressive hot-rodded 1955 Chevy, and for starring James Taylor and Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys) in the two lead roles. Two car boys, secure in the knowledge that nobody has a ride like their '55 Chev, cruise around America looking for gullible marks to race. The Driver (Taylor) and The Mechanic (Wilson) are so into their ride that it's become a sort of auto-nihilism and they barely even care to talk to one another. They pick up a winsome hitchhiker (Laurie Bird) who's soon enamored of their dedication. One day they meet their future likeness in GTO (Warren Oates) - an ageing pump jockey at a remote gas stand. His tales of hotrods past and his younger years spent under the hood and behind the wheel of some classic yankee iron, captivate the Chev boys. Unbeknownst to them, he's a liar and soon they're locked in a race to The Capitol with him - the keys to the Chev and those to the elderly liar's mint '70 Pontiac GTO hanging on the outcome.
Screen adaptation of Stephen King's best-seller. In 1935 Louisiana prison guard Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) meets convict John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) and it is an experience which will change his life forever. Coffey, an eight foot giant, is on Death Row convicted of the murder of two children - and he is afraid to sleep in his cell without a night-light. Coffey also has a special gift, one which he uses to prove to the guards that he has been wrongfully convicted.
Alex Cox's 1980s cult classic in which a luckless man forced to take a job as a car repossession worker finds that it transforms his life. Otto (Emilio Estevez) is an L.A. punk rocker with an attitude - qualities which cost him dearly when he is fired from his job at a supermarket after a fight with a co-worker. Then his girlfriend dumps him. Wandering the streets in despair, Otto meets Bud (Harry Dean Stanton), a 'repo man' who attempts to educate Otto on the value of his occupation. Otto is unconvinced but, with few other options, he takes Bud's advice and becomes a car repossession worker. Otto suddenly finds himself living a fast-paced life involving hotwiring, car chases and physical threats from irate car owners. Ultimately, he becomes entangled in the chase for a '64 Chevy driven by a mad scientist (Fox Harris) said to contain a lethal cargo.
In 1971, journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his companion Dr Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro) arrive in Las Vegas, ostensibly so Raoul can cover the Mint 400 off-track race. The duo embark on a massive drugs binge, checking into the Mint hotel before visiting the Bazzoka Circus casino while high on ether. The hedonistic weekend continues the following day, with Raoul and Gonzo meeting various way-out characters along the way. Watch out for cameos by Cameron Diaz, Christina Ricci and Gary Busey in Terry Gilliam's visually stunning adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's cult novel.
Acclaimed director Paolo Sorrentino helms this comedy drama about a one-time rockstar who sets out on an unlikely odyssey to track down the Nazi camp guard who tormented his father in Auschwitz. Sean Penn stars as Cheyenne, the leather-clad and lipsticked ageing rocker with an uncanny knack for pertinent aphorisms despite his general air of childish petulance, who now spends his days drifting aimlessly through a millionaire's lifestyle in Dublin with his long-suffering, down-to-earth wife, Jane (Frances McDormand), and a cloud of oddball hangers-on. When news comes of his estranged father's death, Cheyenne heads to New York for the funeral, and so begins his somewhat misguided quest for justice and redemption.
Family drama starring Justin Timberlake, Jeff Bridges and Mary Steenburgen. Before she will consent to having a life-saving delicate heart operation, Katherine (Steenburgen) asks her son Carlton (Timberlake) to track down his estranged father, one-time baseball legend Kyle Garrett (Bridges), and bring him to the hospital before she undergoes surgery. Along with his girlfriend Lucy (Kate Mara), Carlton sets out on a journey of discovery that teaches him some important lessons about himself and the people who matter to him.
Episode ten of the 1960s feature-length American western series following the adventures of Marshal Jim Crown (Stuart Whitman). In this episode Deputy MacGregor (Percy Herbert) is in charge while Marshal Crown is out of town, but things don't run smoothly. After a prisoner, Luther Happ (Harry Dean Stanton), escapes from Cimarron jail, MacGregor pursues him and kills him, but ends up getting shot too. MacGregor is then arrested for the prisoner's murder as it comes to light that Happ was also a Deputy. Under the authority of dishonest Sheriff Hawkes (Clifton James), MacGregor is sentenced to be hanged, that is until he escapes from jail along with his cellmate who is chained to him. When Marshal Crown gets word of what has happened, he returns to try and find MacGregor before Sheriff Hawkes does.

Children's CGI-animated adventure featuring the voice talents of Johnny Depp, Bill Nighy and Timothy Olyphant. Rango (voiced by Depp), a pet chameleon who has long harboured dreams of being a swashbuckling hero, is offered a chance to prove himself when he becomes stranded in the Mojave Desert after tumbling from his owner's car. Rango is guided to the nearby town of Dirt by friendly iguana Beans (Isla Fisher), where an act of accidental heroism earns him the respect of the town's residents and sees the Mayor (Ned Beatty) appoint him Sheriff. Top of Rango's priority list in his new position is to find out what is happening with the town's dangerously low water supply. He uncovers a conspiracy that goes right to the heart of the town's power structure; one that will require the intervention of a true hero to overturn. Is Rango up to the task? The movie won the 2012 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
Francis Ford Coppola directs this Oscar-winning crime drama starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. It is 1958 and Michael Corleone (Pacino) has now fully embraced the trappings of a Mafia boss, leading to conflict with his wife, Kay (Diane Keaton). As he attempts to expand his crime empire, he thinks of his late father Vito (De Niro)'s rise to power in New York during the 1920s, but all of Michael's attempts to emulate Vito and do the best for his family only pulls them further apart. Both a prequel and sequel to 'The Godfather' (1972), the film was nominated for eleven Oscars, winning five awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor (De Niro).
