Heinrich Hackmann (1864-1935) war ein deutscher Theologe und
Sinologe. Neben seiner Arbeit als Pfarrer und Pastor verfolgte er
stets sein Interesse fur die chinesische Kultur. Zehn Jahre lang
wohnte er in China und reiste schliesslich einige Jahre spater
erneut in den Osten Asiens. Tief von seinen Eindrucken und
Erfahrungen gepragt, schrieb er vorliegendes Buch, das seine
personlichen Hohepunkte jener Reise vereint. Dabei schildert er
