The volume investigates various genres and types of activity associated with joking in everyday interaction situations. It is an attempt to distinguish characteristic differences between teasing, joshing, leg-pulling, parody, irony, dry humour and many other activities, and to identify the inference processes involved in 'getting the joke'.
