Mit dem Band "Die Konstanzer Bischoefe vom Ende des 6. Jahrhunderts bis 1206" beginnt die Germania Sacra die Bischofsreihe, die am weitesten in die Vergangenheit zuruckreicht. Gleichzeitig kann dieses Buch neben die fruh- und hochmittelalterlichen Bischofsreihen Bamberg, Wurzburg, Hildesheim, Naumburg und Munster gestellt werden. So bieten sich hier fur die Forschung grosse Moeglichkeiten aus verschiedenen Regionen des Reiches die Entwicklung und personelle Auswahl des Episkopates zu be-trachten. Die enorme Bedeutung von Konstanz fur das Herzogtum Schwaben und seine zentrale Lage auf dem Weg nach bzw. von Oberitalien liess den Bischofssitz immer wieder auf koenigliches Interesse treffen. Gleichzeitig standen die Bischoefe im Fruhmittelalter in grossen Auseinandersetzungen, aber auch fruchtbaren Verbindungen mit den bedeutenden Reichskloestern St. Gallen und Reichenau. Beeindruckend ist der Aufbau des Bischofssitzes nach der Kirchenanlage Roms. Geographisch umfasste die alte Dioezese Konstanz das heutige Baden-Wurttemberg sowie die Nordschweiz. An die Biographien der fruhen Bischoefe schliesst sich ein Kapitel uber ihr Munzwesen - von dem Stuttgarter Numismatiker Ulrich Klein - an. Seine Ausfuhrungen werden durch funf Tafeln mit Abbildungen der Munzen der Konstanzer Bischoefe erganzt. Ferner sind dem Band zwei Tafeln mit Siegeln der Bischoefe und eine Karte der Topographie der Stadt Konstanz im 10. Jahrhundert sowie ein ausfuhrliches Register beigelegt.

Das gesamte verfugbare gedruckte und ungedruckte Quellenmaterial sowie die Literatur der deutschen Bistumer, Domkapitel, Kollegiat- und Pfarrkirchen, Kloester und sonstigen kirchlichen Institutionen wird hier aufgearbeitet. Die Gliederung erfolgt nach den Bistumern und Erzbistumern. Die Handbucher sind im wesentlichen einheitlich angelegt und enthalten folgende Kapitel: 1. Quellen, Literatur und Denkmaler, 2. Archiv und Bibliothek, 3. Historische UEbersicht, 4. Verfassung, 5. Religioeses und geistiges Leben, 6. Besitz, 7. Personallisten. Die enge Verbindung von Kirche und Welt im Mittelalter und in der fruhen Neuzeit und die Tatsache, dass die schriftlichen Quellen bis zum Spatmittelalter fast ausschliesslich aus geistlicher Hand kommen, machen die GERMANIA SACRA zur Grundlage der Kirchengeschichte, der politischen Reichs- und Landesgeschichte und der Wirtschafts- und Bildungsgeschichte. Mit dem Abschluss von Band 37, 4: Das Bistum Munster, Die Dioezese liegt erstmals die komplette Beschreibung einer Dioezese (Munster) von ihrer Grundung bis zu ihrer Aufhebung in der Sakularisation 1803 vor.

This book is devoted to the theory and applications of second-order necessary and sufficient optimality conditions in the calculus of variations and optimal control. The authors develop theory for a control problem with ordinary differential equations subject to boundary conditions of equality and inequality type, and for mixed state-control constraints of equality type. The book has several distinctive features: necessary and sufficient conditions are given in the form of no-gap conditions; the theory covers broken extremals where the control has finitely many points of discontinuity; and a number of numerical examples in various areas of application are fully solved.
