St. Louis-Marie de Montfort's favorite Marian book (""True Devotion
to Mary""Series - Book 1)
Everyone knows that trying to build or accomplish something
without a solid foundation is foolish.
This book, by Fr. Henri-Marie Boudon, was St. Louis-Marie de
Montfort's favorite Marian book as a seminarian, and a very strong
case can be made that he made his first act of total consecration
in the form of the devotion of the holy slavery as a result of this
book. In fact, he takes many things directly from this book in his
""True Devotion to Mary"."
Published in 1667, this is the first and only English
translation of this book. This series on the Marian spirituality of
the Saint begins with it. His " "True Devotion to Mary"" has been
called the greatest book ever written about the Blessed Virgin. Bl.
Pope John Paul II said: "It is from Montfort that I have taken my
motto: "Totus tuus." Someday I'll have to tell you Montfortians how
I discovered de Montfort's Treatise on True Devotion to Mary, and
how often I had to reread it to understand it."
Fr. Henri-Marie Boudon was St. Louis-Marie de Montfort's
favorite spiritual writer. He introduced de Montfort to the concept
of the holy slavery as the quick and sure path to divine union. One
of the Saint's biographers wrote about this book: "What especially
delighted the young levite (St. Louis-Marie) in this book, which is
imbued with a sweet piety and a heavenly unction, is the absolute
dependence that the author professes in regard to the most lovable
of mothers; the happiest state of all, because it allows a slave of
Mary to make his life a perpetual holocaust in honor of this divine
Mistress."
Here is a partial list of what you will discover: Why no one
need fear dishonoring God by this devotion How God is the only end
of this devotion Why this devotion contains all other devotions Why
the devil hates the Rosary The untold benefits for your spiritual
life for having devotion to St. John the Apostle Excellent ways to
honor the holy Angels, why it is necessary to have a devotion to
them, and the immense benefits of being devout to them A clear
explanation of why you need devotion to Mary to overcome the snares
of the devil. (It may surprise you.) The doctrine of the Cross
explained as perhaps you have never seen it Why devotion to St.
Joseph, St. Joachim and St. Anne is important, and other saints to
whom to be devoted, and how devotion to them will increase your
devotion to Mary Why faithfully living devotion to Mary will bring
a high place in Heaven Why it is that we can never honor Mary
enough A clear explanation of the tricks of the demons and how they
use the means we have of overcoming them against us. (Fr. Boudon
gives the most assured means of overcoming them, and you will learn
what the devil dreads the most.)
Reading this book will put you in a great position, because
after reading it, you will be much closer to attaining similar or
perhaps even better (Who knows? ) results than St. Louis-Marie in
your devotion to Mary.
If you read the ""33 Days to Morning Glory"" to prepare for your
consecration, then you will love this book, because it helped St.
Louis-Marie write the ""True Devotion to Mary"" itself Don't
