++++ The below data was compiled from various identification fields
in the bibliographic record of this title. This data is provided as
an additional tool in helping to ensure edition identification:
++++ The Poems Henry Timrod Paul Hamilton Hayne E.J. Hale, 1873
This edition of the uncollected poems of Timrod more than doubles
the number of poems formerly collected. Together, this book and the
Memorial Edition present in competent texts all of his known
poetry. The editor has included only poems signed with the poet's
name or with his pseudonym, unless special evidence was available.
Such evidence for testing authenticity is given in footnotes.
1901. Timrod, the Southern poet, was known as the laureate of the
Confederacy. He was an editor of the Columbia South Carolinian,
but, ruined by the war, he died in poverty of tuberculosis, having
published only one volume of poems. Timrod's finest poems are his
Ode to the Confederate Dead at Magnolia Cemetery, The Cotton Boll,
Carolina, and Ethnogenesis, all of which are included in this
volume.
This book is part of the TREDITION CLASSICS series. The creators of
this series are united by passion for literature and driven by the
intention of making all public domain books available in printed
format again - worldwide. At tredition we believe that a great book
never goes out of style. Several mostly non-profit literature
projects provide content to tredition. To support their good work,
tredition donates a portion of the proceeds from each sold copy. As
a reader of a TREDITION CLASSICS book, you support our mission to
save many of the amazing works of world literature from oblivion.
