Dieses Buch ist eine Festschrift, jedoch keine im iiblichen Sinne,
wie schon die Thematik andeutet. Zu Ehren von Prof Dr. Helmut
Weicker geht es uns nicht urn die Sammlung qualifizierter Beitrtige
von Schillem, Kollegen, Freunden aus dem Fachgebiet und
angrenzenden Wissenschaften, die unter Oberbegriffen Teile des sehr
breit gewordenen Fachgebietes "Sportmedi zin" reprasentieren und
interdisziplinare sowie internationale Kontakte ausweisen konnen.
Die Idee zu dieser Schrift lieferte H. Weicker selbst durch seine
offentliche Vorlesung im Mai 1990: "Die Sportmedizin unter dem
Aspekt des wissenschaftlichen Paradigmawechsels," die als richtung
weisender Beitrag an erster Stelle unseres Sammelwerks steht. Die
Ver dichtung von wissenschaftlichen Teilergebnissen zu
iibergeordneten Kon zepten, die zur Verbesserung oder Uberwindung
gangiger Theorien und Ansichten fiihren, ist das Besondere daran.
Weicker's Leitidee, bezogen auf einen Vortrag von Gerok und auf den
sportmedizinischen Bereich ange wendet, ist "die gefahrliche
Balance zwischen Ordnung und Chaos im men schlichen Organismus."
Weil in der Medizin ein strenger Determinismus sehen zu
konstatieren sei, konne man einen hohen Ordnungsgrad der Or
ganfunktion nicht generell als Gesundheit, chaotische Abweichungen
nicht generell als pathologisch bezeichnen. Die lJberzeugung, daB
Teilaspekte der Forschung nieht die Gesamtfra gestellung aufklaren
konnen, muB die Einsicht starken, daB die arztliche Intuition
