Hilda Conkling (1910 - 1986) was an American poet. She is noted for
having composed most of her poetry between the ages of four and
ten. Her poetry is about nature, love of her mother, daydreams, or
books that pleased her. Poems By a Little Girl was published in
1920. The poems in this collection are presented by the author's
age. An example of an early poem reads Sparkle up, little tired
flower. Leaning in the grass! Did you find the rain of night? Too
heavy to hold?
