Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

Since 1963 the series Patristische Texte und Studien has been
publishing research findings coordinated by the Patristics
Commission, which today is a joint venture of all the German
Academies. The series is presenting editions, commentaries and
monographs on the writings and teachings of the Church Fathers.
Apostolic Tradition, as this text is best known, was identified in
the early twentieth century as the work of Hippolytus, a Christian
leader from third-century Rome. The text provides liturgical
information of great antiquity, and as such has been massively
influential on liturgical study and reform, especially in Western
Churches. The second edition of this crucial liturgical document
continues Fr Stewart's influential work of re-evaluating the
evolution of church hierarchy in the early Church. In addition,
this new edition is the first to incorporate a recently discovered
Ethiopic manuscript, which in many cases has helped to clarify
ambiguities in the text.
And he admits natures (such as those) of demons, and says that some
of them are good, but others worthless. And some affirm that he
states the soul to be uncreated and immortal, when he uses the
following words, "Every soul is immortal, for that which is always
moved is immortal; " and when he demonstrates that the soul is
self-moved, and capable of originating motion. Others, however,
(say that Plato asserted that the soul was) created, but rendered
imperishable through the will of God.
