Attending an interfaith conference recently, Shaykh Nazim, author
of this volume, was asked the question by the Orthodox Pope: "Why
are troubles increasing in our time?" In his famously pithy manner,
Shaykh Nazim replied, "did Satan take a vacation?" Thus in this
book, the Master of the Naqshbandi-Haqqani Sufi Order focuses on
the interference of Satan, the lower self, and negativity in the
lives of human beings today and the many remedies available to
those who seek spiritual solutions. Utterly pragmatic, Shaykh Nazim
does not suffer fools who refuse to do the work of self-realization
needed to prevent their lives from sliding down the slippery slope
of cynicism and despair into affliction, depression and possibly
even self-destruction. Rather he demands they face their problems
head on, pick themselves up, reverse self-loathing and self-pity
and seek the therapies needed to cure their spiritual-and often
related-physical ailments. This book is a veritable toolbox for
those seeking to raise the bar of spiritual gamesmanship to pursue
not only normalcy but further themselves to attain championship
status in the realm of the divine.

"The Dome of Provisions" refers to a sacred place under God's
Throne that is only accessible by His chosen ones. It is the main
source of heavenly secrets and blessings sent to the hearts of
people. This collection of spiritual discourses is based on ancient
teachings of famous Sufi masters of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain, to
whom the author is directly connected. Lessons outline the
mind-body-spirit connection and inspire readers to "Maqam
al-Ihsan," the Station of Moral Excellence, in which one surrenders
the ego and personal desires to Divine Will. Memorable accounts of
previous masters and their disciples, the struggles they faced and
the lofty heights they reached rounds out this work. Basic
knowledge of Sufi principles is recommended.
In a narration of Imam Ahmad, Abu Dharr asked Prophet Muhammad, "O
Messenger of Allah, how many are the prophets?" He replied,
"120,000 and between their number are 315 messengers." The Holy
Quran mentions twenty-five of these messengers, namely: Adam, Noah,
Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses,
Aaron, Zacharia, John (the Baptist), Idris (Enoch), Jonah, Hud,
Shuayb, Salih, Lot, Ilyas, Ilyasa, Dhu 'l-Kifl, Jesus and Sayyidina
Muhammad, peace be upon them all. These are the messengers of God
who came with holy books containing the Divine Message. The others
are prophets who received divine revelation but who were not
ordered to deliver it to anyone; it was for them. By way of
example, all of Jacob's sons were prophets, but Joseph was the only
messenger from among them. Laboriously compiled from rare
manuscripts, traditional Islamic texts, and other printed source
material, including ahadith and athar and the many traditional
books of history, and painstakingly translated from Ottoman Turkish
to English, Lore of Light depicts the perfected, blessed character
and refined manners that God bestowed on His blessed prophets and
messengers. This illustrious work examines the lives of the
prophets and messengers of God in great detail, heretofore unknown
in English literature on their lives. It depicts the great lengths
to which these holy figures went - at times losing life, suffering
humiliation, torment and abuse from those who opposed them, often
leaving their homes, always tolerant of their attackers and seeking
peace - to guide the many peoples and nations of the world towards
the light which God has sent throughout time for humankind's
betterment and upliftment.
Angels take any form they wish in the physical world. As crystal
water takes the form of the cup in which it is poured, angels can
take the form of any creation which they visit. They do not retain
their full original form of light when they are sent to human
beings: "Say: If there were in the earth angels walking secure, We
had sent down for them from heaven an angel without change] as
messenger" (17:95). Angels can come as birds, as human beings, or
as a form of light like a rainbow adorning the sky. They have a
mind and a heart, but no will and no desire other than to serve and
obey God. They are never too proud to obey Him. Angels worship day
and night without fatigue. They do not need to sleep, as their eyes
never tire. They know no heedlessness. Their attention never
wavers. Their food is glorification of God, their drink is to
sanctify and to magnify Him. Their intimacy is in calling their
Lord through hymning and singing His praise. Their enjoyment is to
serve Him. They are devoid of any and all physiological restraints.
They suffer no mood-changes. Angels inhabit Paradise and the seven
heavens. They worship more than human beings because they came
before them and they have greater and more powerful faculties than
they. They are more pious than human beings because they are
innocent and unable to fall into mistakes or wrongdoings. They
never ask forgiveness for themselves but always for human beings.
This shows us how much they care for us and to what extent God
created them to look after us. God made them our guardians because
a guardian is more perfect than the one he guards. Angels are more
knowledgeable than human beings. The teacher, again, is better than
the student. Their knowledge is of two kinds: intellectual and
traditional. "Intellectual" means here: "of the essence of reality"
or "of the heart." "Traditional" means: "revealed and translated
down from above."

A wise person once said, "Our bodies come new, but our spirits are
ancient. When packaged together, this strange combination can work
miracles." With today's global issues of violence, lack of racial
and religious tolerance and the void of spiritual leadership,
people are losing hope and falling away from the old establishments
of faith, as they are constantly failing to offer solutions and
peace of mind. That is one of the many reasons why people today are
adapting the "new age" school of thought-seeking alternative means
to find a light to guide them amidst the present spiritual darkness
and material exuberance. But we are living in this moment, that of
a new century and new generations. Every generation is identified
by its great thinkers, its great philosophers, its great leaders;
those who enlighten that generation by their great service towards
mankind, not only for their time, but for all to follow. Those
great personalities that transcend space and time become legends.
They are heroes of the new age and we are living in the age of such
new heroes. Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is such a personality.
He is a new type of teacher who teaches without teaching; a new age
guru who melts hearts without holding a single session of Sufi
gathering; a new age shaykh who inspires and illuminates the
seeking heart without moving his lips.
About the Book: God said, "We have created everything in pairs."
This has to do with reality versus imitation. Our physical form
here in this earthly life is only a reflection of our heavenly
form. Like plastic fruit and real fruit, one is real, while the
other is an imitation. This book looks at the nature of the
physical world, the laws governing the universe and from this
starting point, jumps into the realm of spiritual knowledge - Sufi
teachings which must be "tasted" as opposed to read or spoken. It
will serve to open up to the reader the mystical path of saints
which takes human beings from the world of forms and senses to the
world within the heart, the world of Gnosis and spirituality - a
world filled with wonders and blessings. About the Author: Shaykh
Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is a scholar from the Middle East. He
graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry from the American University of
Beirut and then went to Louvain, Belgium to continue his medical
studies. He later received his Islamic law degree, then went on to
study the Sufi spiritual path with two great master of wisdom.
Other books by the shaykh include: The Naqshbandi Sufi way, Angels
Unveiled, Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine (7 volumes), and Women
Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (with Dr. L. Bakhtiar). Shaykh
Kabbani is the chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of America,
an educational organization based in Michigan.
The life stories of this renowned Sufi order's Golden Chain of
forty saints, connected through a distinguished spiritual lineage
to Prophet Muhammad, are narrated here in rare accounts of their
miracles and training, giving fresh inspiration and guidance for
today's turbulent world.
Expounding the series, coveted lectures from the head of the
world's largest Sufi spiritual order and descendant of the popular
poet and mystic Rumi offer guidelines to developing heightened
spiritual awareness and overcoming negative influences that impede
happiness.
From the head of the world's largest Sufi order comes another
luminous volume of inspiring lectures. This book includes practical
steps to find your "true identity" and tune in to your individual
spiritual powers, which complete the universal scheme.
THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD IN OUR DAILY LIFE features a
detailed explanation of how a quarter of the world population views
Prophet Muhammad and the specific guidance he provided mankind to
achieve moral excellence. This work includes many supplications
taught by Prophet Muhammad and their secret spiritual knowledge
hidden in specific formulas. Recitations in this book are known to
remove obstacles and resolve poor health, financial and personal
issues and to impart goodness and bring peace to one's heart. This
work is a fine addition to any study of Islam, Prophet Muhammad,
Sufism, Islamic mysticism and spirituality. Its lessons are
universal.
Compiled by a world-renowned Islamic scholar and spiritual guide,
"Principles of Islamic Spirituality, Part 1: Sufism" is the first
of a multi-volume treatise written for western readers. It presents
a brief background of the Sufi hierarchy, their diverse communities
achieved through religious tolerance and goodwill, their social
responsibility, and treatment of the perennial conflict of good vs.
evil. While this historic work draws upon authentic legal
precedents and religious explanations from various Islamic schools
of thought that form the majority Muslim view, it is presented for
laypersons in easily understood terms and is highly recommended for
anyone interested in mainstream Islam and its moderate views of
today's world.
