Originally published in 2000, Taiwan’s Security in the Post-Deng Xiaoping Era analyses the many domestic and international factors comprising Taiwan’s security situation in the late 1990s and early 21st Century. The security of Taiwan remains of international strategic concern, and the military situation in the Taiwan Strait is increasingly volatile, nearly 25 years after this book was first published. This detailed study concludes that Taiwan’s overall security will become increasingly dependent on external factors and that the most important contribution Taipei can make to its own security, other than military preparation, is political astuteness.

It has been ten years since I presented the paper entitled "A new model and theory on yield and failure of materials under the complex stress state" at the Sixth Conference on Mechanical Behaviour of Materials held at Kyoto, Japan in 1991. The proceedings edited by Jono and Inoue were published by Pergamon Press in 1991. At that conference Professor Murakami and I were invited to act as the chairperson and co-chairperson of a session, and I presented the paper at another session. Few days before the conference, I had given a seminar regarding the tw- shear strength theory and the unified strength theory at Nagoya Technological University. These were the first two presentations of the unified strength theory, although I had completed the research of the unified strength theory in 1990. The paper "Twin-shear strength theory and its generalization" was published in the English edition of Sciences in China, the top journal in China, in 1985. The th original generalized twin-shear strength theory was presented at the 16 International Theoretical and Applied Mechanics Congress held at Copenhagen in Denmark and MPA (MaterialPrufungsAnstalt) at Stuttgart University, Germany in 1984. After this Congress I visited the MPA and School of Civil Engineering of Stuttgart University, and gave a seminar regarding the generalized twin-shear strength theory at MPA of Stuttgart University. Professor Otto Mohr (1835-1918) has had worked at the Stuttgart University. He was a very good professor, his lectures aroused great interest in his students."

This book is constructed upon a dialectical model (or paradigm) and then applied to analyse many issues concerning Biocoastal China, namely, the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan. This model differs in many respects from other dialectical models. The issues include: The dialectical succession problem in China; the complex, dialectical relationship between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese People's Liberation Army (CPLA); the politico-military dimension of mainland China and Taiwan's relations; One Country, Two Systems: the dialectical dual recognition in foreign relations; the negotiations between Beijing and Taipei; changing the national title of the PRC as well as the ROC, if necessary; transferring of party policies from Taiwan to mainland China; and the Nansha Island Group as a dialectical co-operation and co-ordination place between Beijing Taipei.

For the multiple-access protocol in wireless network, it is a scheme to control the access to a shared communication medium among various users. Access protocol can be grouped due to the bandwidth allocation mechanism, which can be static or dynamic, and the type of control mechanism implements. Each Media Access Control (MAC) uses a different media or multiple accesses schemes to allocate the limited bandwidth. It is required to develop simple and efficient resource management protocols for these network results in reduced processing cost, faster processing and a better use of network resources. When a mount of traffic is classified by different flow characteristics and then QoS requirement increases the utilization of the network resources. The orchestrated multimedia transmission is expected that the various elements of the multimedia service will be synchronized at the receiver node. There is a need for dynamic resource allocation protocols to take care of the various types of input sources. Static optimal and a dynamic optimal resource management protocols have been developed and evaluated.

This book presents and discusses an in-depth study of one dot by using different approaches and methods in social science. Since one-dot is a theory, it must be accompanied by a model, and the name of the model is called the crab and frog motion. Arguably, everything can be simplified or compressed in terms of a dot. The Chinese Communists conducted the first long march for the sake of the majority of Chinese people, with the victory of MAO Zedong. Arguably, it is the ROC Constitution that has helped ROC citizens to live in a non-Communist or anti-Communist political system. Actively promoting democracy and freedom on the Chinese mainland (neidi) can further guarantee the Taiwan area's survival.
