This is a memoir of Italo Svevo, who died in 1928 and who is the author of "The Confessions of Svevo". As Svevo's novels are largely concerned with marriage, it is appropriate that this book was written by his wife. She makes use of his correspondence, journals and other unpublished material. In addition, the book documents his friendship with James Joyce, quoting little-known Joyce sources. It also includes, as an appendix, a publication of a lecture by Svevo on Joyce.
