Economics Express: Quantitative Methods (Paperback): Ian Jacques Economics Express: Quantitative Methods (Paperback)
Ian Jacques
R743 Discovery Miles 7 430 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Welcome to Economics Express - a series of short books to help you: * take exams with confidence * prepare and deliver successful assignments * understand quickly * revise and prepare effectively. As you embark on your economic journey, this series of books will be your helpful companion. They are not meant to replace your lectures, textbooks, seminars or any other sources suggested by your lecturers. Rather, as you come to an exam or an assignment, they will help you to revise and prepare effectively. Whatever form your assessment might take, each book in the series will help you to build up the skills and knowledge you will need to maximise your performance. Each topic-based chapter will outline the key information and analysis, provide sample questions with responses, and give you the assessment advice and exam tips you will need to produce effective assessments based on these core topics. A companion website provides supporting resources for self testing, assessment, exam practice and answers to questions in the book. Ian Jacques was formerly a senior lecturer at Coventry University. He has considerable experience teaching mathematical methods to students studying economics, business and accounting.

Mathematics for Economics and Business, Global Edition + Mylab Math with Pearson Etext (Mixed media product, 9 Ed): Ian Jacques Mathematics for Economics and Business, Global Edition + Mylab Math with Pearson Etext (Mixed media product, 9 Ed)
Ian Jacques
R2,234 Discovery Miles 22 340 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

An essential resource for anyone studying mathematics as part of their economics, management or business course. Mathematics for Economics and Business assumes very little prior knowledge of maths, starting with the basics and gradually building up to more advanced topics, making is suitable for use on both low- and high-level quantitative methods courses. Now in its ninth edition, the book has added even more examples and practice questions, encouraging students to tackle problems for themselves as they read through each section. Worked examples clearly illustrate the link between maths and the business world and more challenging questions for those with advanced mathematical knowledge are included in starred sections. Detailed solutions to all questions are provided so that students can check their own progress, making it an ideal text for self-study. This package includes MyLab Math Global. Students, if MyLab Math Global is a recommended/mandatory component of the course, please ask your instructor for the course ID. MyLab Math Global should only be purchased when required by an instructor. Instructors, contact your Pearson representative for more information.

Numerical Analysis (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 1987): Ian Jacques Numerical Analysis (Paperback, Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 1987)
Ian Jacques
R1,610 Discovery Miles 16 100 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book is primarily intended for undergraduates in mathematics, the physical sciences and engineering. It introduces students to most of the techniques forming the core component of courses in numerical analysis. The text is divided into eight chapters which are largely self-contained. However, with a subject as intricately woven as mathematics, there is inevitably some interdependence between them. The level of difficulty varies and, although emphasis is firmly placed on the methods themselves rather than their analysis, we have not hesitated to include theoretical material when we consider it to be sufficiently interesting. However, it should be possible to omit those parts that do seem daunting while still being able to follow the worked examples and to tackle the exercises accompanying each section. Familiarity with the basic results of analysis and linear algebra is assumed since these are normally taught in first courses on mathematical methods. For reference purposes a list of theorems used in the text is given in the appendix.
